On reaching the office on Monday, HR announced that we would be observing the two-day holiday to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. I must admit this holiday could not have come on a better day because I had to drag myself to work that Monday out of tiredness. These days my work schedule has been so tight that I've had to close work late back to back. My official working hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 PM, but lately, I've been closing within the period of 6:30 PM (if I'm early) to 8:30 PM. Yes, I love my job, but please give me a break. Today I left the office at around 7 PM, and I will still need to finish up with the things I have left undone tomorrow.
This has been my life in the last month and I think it gets to me mainly because I'm not appreciated for the extra effort. Not that I seek appreciation in itself, I just think it's only proper to say a little thank you for the extra work a person decides to put in. If I'm to be honest I'm putting in more than extra work and taking on work not in my job description which certainly doesn't match my current pay. However, I'm not here to complain about that, so I will continue with what I was saying concerning the long-awaited holiday. If it were left to me, I would suggest workers be given a 1 week holiday after every 90 days of work, especially for those whose jobs are demanding.
Lately, I've been having recurring heart palpitations, especially when I'm at the office, I know It's due to the workload on me coupled with the chest ulcer pain I feel alongside the palpitation. I need to see a doctor for that but then again I'm cut into the web of limited finances, I just hope I do not break down totally before getting the required amount of money to go for a proper check-up. This was why I appreciated the two-day holiday given to our Muslim brothers and sisters. It gave me enough time to rest that the only thing I did on Tuesday was eat and sleep. I didn't even have time for my phone until later at night.
I woke up on Thursday to prepare for work when I got a message that we would be observing the extended holiday. My joy knew no bounds because the weather was cold that morning and I was still in bed contemplating how I would take my bath. I just smiled and rolled back into my warm blanket and the next time I opened my eyes was past 9:00 AM when a colleague of mine lost access to her official mail and needed help accessing it. Holidays are indeed a time to relax and re-energize which I was able to do with the last three days of resting. Although a part of me felt weird just eating and sleeping because my body is no longer used to that routine thus making me feel there are things I should be doingโฆ but in the real sense what I should be doing at that time was what I was doing alreadyโฆ Resting.

Sometimes we really need more days off, because we may also have families so they also need our attention, thank you for sharing, friend.
One advantage of holidays that can never be overemphasized is the rest/reclining it brings. Awesome write-up
Yes that's true. Thank you
Uwc
Holiday breaks for workers is like a miracle helper because you get to have me-time and also rewind. Working continuously for a long period of time without rest will definitely bring about illness, a human body is not machine.
Ahswear you are very correct
I support this absolutely. Nigeria is already a stressful country and the stress from work is a whole lot of addition. Workers needs more days to rest and be more productive.
If there are more vacations, the advantage is that the problems in life will be less.
As funny as it sounds, it's the truth
Iโm finding it hard to believe that you were excited to go on a break in the first place because you that I know? You donโt mind working 48 hours in 24 hours๐๐๐

At a point I was feeling useless... But a friend told me to endure because I will never get that chance again
Haha
The body needs rest. With all the stress you've gone through, taking a rest with the holiday given is very nice.
I do hope you get the necessary dubd yp take care ld your health. Health is wealth, and let that serve as a remainder.
Hello dearest fashionable dreemer. I hope you are well. Happy new day to you. Tuesday is here again with its musical beauty. I hope you are ready to fill us in with those songs that bless your heart. Have a beautiful day, and don't forget to keep that smile. It suits you. I waltzed in from #dreemport, for I am an amazing #dreemer. An awesomely made #dreemerforlife.
Thank you for your kind words... I will be sure to do so
You are welcome ๐
This three- days holiday was obviously meant for you ๐. Everyone needs a break to recover the energy they extended towards their work.
It's much more annoying when one is not even appreciated for his or her efforts. Just a thank you is enough to set things right, but it seems like a lot of people are not aware of that.
#Dreemerforlife.
Yeah it's the world we live in. I'm just glad I've been trained not to use that as a excuse to stop giving my best
