Happy weekend to you all; hope your week was well spent. It is so amazing to be with you for this last edition of week 172. Health is wealth, and a country that has a lot of people who are sick will also have a sick economy. Health practitioners have been on the neck of the government with the agitation that what they are being paid is so little compared to what their colleagues in other countries are being paid. I am sorry if I am sounding different.
The major problem we have in this nation is that we have a lot of individuals who are not so passionate about the career they have chosen for themselves. They go into the field just because of the volume of money they expect to come to them at the end.One other thing is that we are just full of comparison, forgetting the fact that the condition surrounding us in this nation is totally different from what is obtainable out there. The cost of leaving here in Nigeria is okay when you want to equate it with what we have out there.
To balance things up, health workers insist to the government that their pay be upgraded. If you look at this critically, you will get to ask some important questions. A few years back I came up with this agreement that teachers should be the highest paid in this nation. Those that teach these doctors are given peanuts at the end of every month, while the doctors come up after several years to insist that they get higher pay.
Many of them say that they have lots of hazards in the profession, and I also say that every profession has its own hazard. Putting things in the right perspective, I will say that every profession needs fair treatment because there is no one profession that can stand independent of the other. In the real sense of things, nurses do more work than the doctors, or I will say that the lab scientists should be placed ahead of the doctors because it is from their diagnosis that prescriptions are being made by the doctors.
In our nation, strikes do not change things for anyone. The government even threatens to deduct the salaries of those who did not go to work, and because of this, no one wants his salary to be reduced, so they go to work. Growing up in a hospital setting, I got to see how things go when doctors go on strike. Many people lose their lives as a result; some situations get out of hand too. Many doctors now have stepped ahead to open their private hospitals, so when the government hospitals are on strike, they move patients to their private hospital.
The government is not afraid of strikes any longer, so as it stands now I don't know the best way workers can use to make their intentions known to the government. Thank you so much for visiting my blog, see you next time.
That is just the truth. Some don't have the passion for what they do. But that does not stop them from going on a little strike just to make the government look at them and take proper care of them.
Thank you for sharing
No passion at all. Thank you for adding your voice
Government aren't afraid of the striking anymore and you are right about it.
Well it's well sha.
My dear, they are not. Is it those that got into power that should be afraid or those that took it by force? It's well as always
