Gender equality has been one of the most controversial topics in a long while, though its effect has brought about some positive changes in today's world, a lot of people still view equality in the wrong light; they think it's about comparison or competing. Some of the benefits we can evidently attest to is how female are no longer left behind When both partners feel valued and supported, they are more likely to work together as a team and build a strong foundation for their relationship. at home and not allow access to education, because then they believed, women could not do more than tending to her household and kitchen duties, but today, women have changed that perspective, and are seen doing amazingly well in their respective fields.

But when we take a look at equality in our average lives, for the average man and woman? How does it impact our financial responsibilities in the family, marriage, or our society at large? In my opinion, I think equality is aimed at providing solutions to some unique challenges faced by both men and women, and not really bringing sameness to both genders, which is what is causing confusion and more problems.

In the financial aspect for instance, originally, men are the head and sole provider of the family while women are there to support, but in today's world and present economic situation, it will be unfair to place all financial responsibility on the men, women are still expected to play their role of supporting financially as well, and in same vein, men can also be of assistance at home, I believe when there is undersstanding between both of them, then there is mutual respect.

Problems arises when women begin to lose respect for their men because they now support the household financially, or the men who now choose to leave all financial responsibilities for their women because they now earn, they become lazy house husbands, trust me this now now a common practice among some men, I've heard too many women bare their heart in pain ragarding this, just they decided to be useful and support financially, not because they didn't have other obligation, because raising choildren and taking care of the household is a huge job on its own, overwhelming one with responsibilities irrespective of the gender often creates inbalance in the home causing more problem than solution and that is not what equality aim to achieve.

When both partners feel valued and supported, they are more likely to work together as a team and build a strong foundation for their family.

Ultimately, gender equity is about creating a world where both men and women can thrive. It is about recognizing the unique value both genders can contribute, and most times these values are not based on gender. Most men these days now complain of the job market being favourable to women, while some jobs, like engineering, are still stereotyped to be masculine, not allowing women the chance to thrive in them. Equality is about us understanding fairness and the willingness to work together, irrespective of our gender, to achieve the same goal or purpose to build a brighter future for ourselves and our communities.
