The effectiveness of homeworks and impact in learning

One thing students don't smile at is homework. in fact we always pray that no teacher nor lecturer remembers to drop an assignment before they drop their marker pen. I want to believe that ever since the educational system came into existence, homework was created alongside. First probably because the educationist noticed when students leave school for home a lot of them do not go back to what they have been taught in the class rather than gallivanting around so homework was brought into play majorly so that students can actually educate themselves at home and remember what was taught in the classroom.

Although I personally don't like homework cause I see it as stress but then it was a stepping stone for me to always go back home to my books and do the needful. Honestly you don't want to fall for a harsh teacher trap of failing to do their homework. Not just being scared of the lashes, but today I can easily search through the hard copy dictionary for any meaning with ease because of regular dictionary homework my highschool teachers gave us not like now that one can just use their devices to check for the meaning of words.

Bless the school I attended, not taking nonsense from students as soon as I drop my bag, shower and then eat, I am off to go to any of my class mates house who finds the work easier than I do and this was how gradually I have no choice than to adapt to the going back home to do assignments.

There are different ways of giving an assignment in school although we are more familiar with the solving x and y but back then in school, once our teachers noticed we have been finding solutions a lot, they switched to a different style like note taking on the next topic to prepare us ahead of the class or reading a passage which is fun. Sometimes we go home with spellings making the combination of all these much more fun for every one to want to participate.

Because I believe homework helped me a lot and still does as a student, curbing it will only ruin the system that has been in existence for so long cause as a university student a lot of our lecturers do not have time for us like they should and so the homework given to us is actually what's helping and failure to do it on your own. And then my younger ones who love to play like no tomorrow, their work is what we used to stop them from playing cause for now they don't do much chores at home. Honestly homework is not boring neither is it stressful for any student who is willing to learn and take corrections so let's embrace it and put our younger ones on the right track.
