The challenges and reforms of child services

Child services play an important role in shaping the future of every country by ensuring the well-being of children. Every child deserves to be protected and this is not just a privilege but a right.

When a child is well taken care of, he or she grows up to evenly contribute to the betterment of his society even in the smallest of ways thus making the society a safe place to stay and the same thing goes around when they are left with little or no care from family or the government. He or she turns out to be a threat to society.

Child services has played a very crucial role over time here in my country and from what I have known so far, they've given hope to a lot of hopeless children living in the streets with no direction back then. You know it was a thing of joy years ago when the government usually comes to take orphans when cases were reported to them.

When still living at our former residence, there was this family who unfortunately first lost their dad to a gasly motor accident and just a year after their mom died. Oh!! People really felt for the children because it was indeed a painful thing losing both parents in the space of just one year. A lot of us were not aware that anything like child services existed so we just hoped a good Samaritan would come for them. Luckily there was this man who came to visit his friend around the vicinity and somehow he heard the news. Trust people to talk about it till they get tired. Now indeed he was the God sent we all have been praying for cause he works with the government. He felt pitiful for the children, called the attention of one of the agencies and that was how they came to take the children with them. The only thing we heard after was that a relative from their mother side came to claim the children but with strict watch on them.

Too much of everything they say is bad including with the services. I recently watched on the internet where an influencer was saying they've been harassing her with the aim of permanently taking her children from her cause she's separated from her husband which is disgusting. Why try to separate children from their mother by all means in the name of carrying out your duties. So as much as child services have helped, their effect is a two way thing over here in my country. Today you hear good of them and tomorrow is a different sad news entirely. For the good, they give protection to the vulnerable ones and bad, child rights violations, lack of trained personnel plus a corrupt system.

Lastly, one of the ways child services can improve in my country is by implementing good strategies such as improving access to quality services, promoting parental resilience and support and strengthening the legal framework. I believe with these and many more, child services would be evenly better.
