Basic education and dedication to your passion matter more than expensive schooling

The school talk will always be a controversial topic; people have different opinions when it comes to school and its benefits.

Someone who graduated and secured a well-paying job will never be among those saying school is a scam because that is what helped him in securing a good job.

The one who got picked out of a crowd at an interview because of his higher education will never join them to call school a scam.

When the set of people I mentioned above meets people who have been unlucky since they graduated from a higher institution and have already given up on securing a well-paying job and dumped their certificate to start their hustle afresh on the street by learning a vocation, there will always be a disagreement because they didn't share the same experience regarding school.

My dad called me last week, asking me to bring my certificate because the government wants to employ the indigenes of their town, and my response was that I don't need it. I said he should tell my sister instead, who was interested because she has been looking for a way to secure a government job... As for my own case, I can't leave my remote job to start doing Government work, The disadvantage is that I will have to leave the comfort of my house and return so late in the night, it will take my time and distract me from my online job, and lastly it can't pay me as much as I earn online, so it is like leaving the ocean because you got an offer to come and live in the river... My sister, who was not opportuned to work online, looks forward to getting it and I know it will benefit her a lot, so in this aspect school is not a scam because without her certificate, she won't even have the opportunity or chance to go for it, not yet certain that she will get the job but at least she was given the opportunity because of her certificate.

In my opinion, school is not a scam, but I don't believe it's worth investing huge amounts of money and resources into. I see no use for the program I am currently running, and in the end, the certificate might end up in my wardrobe like others. For an entrepreneur, a basic education - being able to read, write, speak, and calculate is enough. What truly drives success is dedication, enthusiasm, passion for learning, and the ability to solve problems.

Many successful businessmen and women out there only had a basic education, and they employ graduates to work for them. School doesn't define your success. I will admit it can be a catalyst that also speeds up the process, but most graduates depend so much on their certificate and refuse to see the light ahead of them... They prefer working for others with their certificate, forgetting they can also be their own boss, and of course, not everyone is destined to be a boss, but did you even try!.

Hive blockchain is a good example of where your level of education doesn't matter, as long as you are a good writer and people can learn something from your post, you are good to go, and many of us on Hive earn more than an offline job will pay a degree holder. Apart from education, have something to offer, and life will favour you.

Many successful business people didn't need advanced degrees, but they had vision and problem-solving skills, so it all depends on what path in life you are taking.

You are right when you say that working for the government will only take away your Normal life from you, especially your online job. It is funny how people are been treated just because of their jobs. They take nonsense from their employees. After my graduation I decided to work online at least make sure to make one post a day and help to do other work at home. That way I have more time for my family. I cook and everyone comes back to eat at the right time. I know that I am not making much but it is still better for me.

Yeah, people have to bear a lot of insults from their employers, they have no choice, they have to do what is needed to survive... We are lucky to be on this amazing blockchain.

School is really not a scam. Our system is the scam because everything is channelled to work against us. In the western world, people with diplomas get to secure well paying jobs whereas those of us in Africa have to school our whole lives for the highest certificates just to secure a government job.

Yes it is just in Africa that schooling doesn't give good benefit, and this is due to corruption.

You've articulated this perfectly. Passion and problem-solving skills will always be more valuable than just a piece of paper. The certificate can open a door, but as you said, dedication is what truly builds success. Great post.

Honestly, there is no need to pay money for something you will end up not making use of. I concur with you that school is not a scam.

Even if she get that government job, they will first put her on a 3 months probation before she receives her salary. Sometimes, it comes in full but in other times, welp, lets just say the government is trying.

The politics in having a government job is too much. I know what i'm currently going through. But then, all the same.

Government job is way better than most private companies, I said this because we have some private companies that pays really well even more than government but to secure a job in such companies requires heaven intervention if one doesn't have the right connection.

As for my sis, if she is among the lucky ones to get the job , 3 months is nothing compared to what she has beared over the past years .

School may not be a scam, but in Nigeria today, survival is more about skills, vision, and opportunities. Some of us can testify to that.

I agree with you man. People only attend school now for validation. Life start after school .

That is just it. Just to show that I also have a certificate when their mates are talking.

School is not a scam, yes, I agree, but it is gradually becoming a scam in this part because getting a job means you must know someone, and if not.. On Your Own🤔

I think that's what I'll be forever grateful for going to school, it gave me basic education or a framework through which I can understand the world and navigate that. Apart from that, I think one needs to take their education in their own hands to get higher paying jobs or work for themselves, going to school is only the start of one's education.

Education doesn't guarantees success and it's also not a scam.
Like I would always tell my younger siblings in school, just put in your best and don't create a barrier, you really don't know where you would succeed from tomorrow .

I'm big on entrepreneurship and I would urge every graduate to have a skill, not necessarily a tech skill, but a skill of interest you can rely on apart from education.

Thanks for sharing.

Skill is more important than education nowadays because in the end, those who graduated from school without a skill still go ahead to learn one when they were not able to secure a good job.
