AN ADDICTIVE STRESS RELIEF

(edited)

As much as I hate to admit it, I'm addicted to my gadgets. I remember one time when I was coming back from work, I hurriedly left the office in a bid to meet up with an appointment after work. Suddenly I started feeling empty as though something was missing or I had forgotten something. I hoped it wasn't my airpods so I quickly looked into my bag only to find it there. Soon enough I casually checked my pocket after a weird-looking man opted for the taxi I was in only to not find my phone. My heart skipped immediately wondering what was happening. It was no longer getting funny, but my seventh sense was telling me to calm down. I started searching the place I was sitting to see if it fell because my pocket wasn't really deep.

Unfortunately, it wasn't in the cab and immediately my head started spinning, and my heart raced so fast trying to imagine what could have happened. I told the cab driver to stop me as though I had forgotten something, crossed the road and took another taxi back to my office hoping and praying that I forgot it at the office. Reaching the office I couldn't find where I thought it would be, which was the security post, I entered my own office and still couldn't find it. At this point, I was losing hope and was finally ready to speak up that I might have lost my phone when I saw it just sitting on the reception desk. Imagine the relief I felt and nearly shed a tear because I had just gotten the phone.

The thing about my phone is that it's always with me, and not just for business, but also for pleasure. Sometimes I try to just leave the phone to do something else only to remember 10 things I feel like doing with it. I can't think of a better way to have fun by myself without my phone, I'm either watching reels or playing games. I can't stop working on something that's giving me a headache because I want to play a game with my phone. The issue is not in playing the game, the issue is the time I spend playing it. My football games are very competitive, targets to reach, techniques to discover and when I'm losing I can't just stop until I win and before you know it I've been playing for 3 hours straight. This is why it's not easy to not be on the phone at all, especially when I'm having a bad day or having to wait for something. Oh I didn't mention I was going to play a game in the taxi only to realize I wasn't with my phone 😂

Yeah. My phone is not only about business either. It helps me a lot. I remember the one time I forgot my phone when I was leaving the house. My mom came after me and handed me the phone followed by "is everything okay? you forgot your phone" lol
I did not know that I was addicted to my phone until that day

I’m also addicted to my cell phone, just like most people on Hive. I realized how big of a phone addict I am when my phone died last week. Curse NEPA and their silliness - they didn't give us electricity for more than a week. When my phone and power bank died, it felt like a big piece of me was missing.

It will feel like life is meaningless without your phone

Reminds me of how I used to lose track of time playing COD and chess. But I wonder how you even traveled that far without realising. I guess it can happen anyway.
