Matcha is a finely ground powder made from green tea leaves. Instead of steeping and discarding the leaves like regular tea, you whisk the vibrant green powder directly into hot water or milk, consuming the whole leaf. It's very popular in Japan and served free in sushi restaurants. It's so popular that it's served as a milk tea in Starbucks. In the train station, there was one stall selling matcha ice cream that we just had to try even if the weather was cold. It's delicious with contrasting taste of sweets and bitterness from the tea. On the other hand, you don't have to go to Japan if you're in our country. The popularity of this dessert had already reached the Philippines. There are already shops that serves this dessert as well as the milk tea variety.
