On Splinterlands is running season 157 which will end in 13 days and 15 hours but there is an important event starting soon.
In six days the presale of the new card set will begin: Conclave Arcana
In the SHOP section of Splinterlands a CARD PACKS section has been added.

The release of a new card set always has a great impact on the game dynamics of a TCG and this is even more true for Splinterlands because each new set has changed the game dynamics in a major way but more importantly it has changed the balance of play in the various game modes.
The release of the new set of cards will have a great impact on my gaming activity because:
- my favorite game mode is Ranked Play but only in Modern Format because it is the only format of the ranked play type reserved exclusively for human players like me
- the heart of my card collection, the strongest and most competitive part of my card collection that I use in Modern Format, is the Chaos Legion cards that will come out of Modern Format when the general sale of the Conclave Arcana Card set begins.
I have not yet decided my buying strategy for the new set and I have not yet decided my playing strategy when the Chaos Legion cards come out of Modern Format but in all likelihood:
- I will continue to play in the Modern Format even though I will have, at least initially, a very weak collection of cards compared to the collection of cards I can use today in Modern Format
- I will also return to play in Wild Format
- I will use the rewards I earn in the Wild Format to build a card collection that is competitive again in the Modern Format
The upcoming presale of the new set of cards has already produced positive effects on the value of DEC tokens and SPS tokens because to buy packs of cards it is necessary to use DEC tokens or credits but the most convenient method will as always be to use DEC tokens unless the value exceeds the peg (unlikely but possible).
Before Presale starts I will write a post in which I will share my buying strategy and considerations but right now I will show you my results in the last season I played in Modern Format and my next steps in the current season.
My dual game activity in Modern Format and my Achievements in Season 156
My favorite ranked play type format is the Modern Format because there are no bots and battle helpers.
Starting from season 152 I doubled my playing activity in Modern Format and so, even in season 156, I played in Modern Format with:
- @libertycrypto27 (my main account) -> Cards
- @libertygame27 (my curation account for SPT) -> Cards
With @libertycrypto27 in the Modern Format:
- I use a card collection (owned + soulbound) consisting of 1176 cards = 28629 BCX = 611525 CP = 2994$ Market Value (using Market Prices).
- I have a SPS stake = 134K (-50K delegated to libertygame27) = 84K effective
- I don't rent cards from the market and use only the cards I own
With @libertygame27 in Modern Format:
- I use a card collection (delegated by libertycrypto27 + soulbound) consisting of 219 cards = 10050 BCX = 110770 CP = 962$ Market Value** (using Market Prices)
- i have a SPS stake = 50K delegated by libertycrypto27
- in each season rent some cards from the market to increase the strength in battle

I played more battles with my main account (176 vs 110) but in general I played a lot less battles than in the previous season because I had a lot of work commitments and less free time in the last 15 days.
In season 155 I had reached Champion III league, in season 156 I tried to enter Champion III league but without succeeding even though I came very close several times.
In the current season I will try to enter the Champion III league again!
I have improved my income from renting cards that I do not use in battle compared to the previous season.

The balance between rental revenue (libertycrypto27) and rental expenses (libertygame27) was positive: +1239.24 DEC.

Based on the current market values of the HIVE token, the SPS token (highest bid value), and the DEC token (Lowest Ask value), I calculated the net dollar gain I earned by playing with my two accounts.

I am pleased with the financial results of both of my two accounts especially because they have improved compared to season 155.
With my main account I have made good progress in upgrading Rebellion Reward cards.
More than 1 month ago I completed the upgrade of common Rebellion Reward cards.
Of the 12 rare Rebellion Reward cards I have completed upgrading 11 cards except Dark Arborist which is at level 7 and I need 9 BCX to complete this upgrade as well.
With a total of 134328 Glint available I purchased 50 Rare draw hoping to find 9 BCX of Dark Arborist.
In the first 50 rare draws I found only 3 BCX of Dark Arbonist so I purchased and opened another 50 Rare Draw but I was not lucky and still have 5 BCX to find to complete the upgrade.
I decided to postpone buying more Rare Draws to the beginning of next season because I don't want to buy Rare draws at a higher price (batch 2).
Today I also purchased 7 Epic Draws in which I found the cards you can see in the next image.
I have done 1 upgrade: Arachne Weaver: level 2 -> level 3
I hope to complete the Dark Arbonist upgrade soon so I can then focus on upgrading the epic reward cards.
Even with libertygame27 I am making progress in upgrading Rebellion reward cards although, having only started playing for a few seasons, I still have many draws to purchase.
My next steps in Modern Format current season
In the current season I will continue to play and have fun in Modern Format with my main account and I will also continue to play with libertygame27 although the difficulty in finding maximum level summoner cards to rent at reasonable prices has produced a decrease in my game results and also in game rewards.
In fact with my second account I need to rent at least two maximum level summoners to achieve good seasonal results in terms of SPS and Glint.
In season 156 I played with only 1 maximum level summoner that I delegated from my main account to my secondary account: General Sloan level 8.
In this season I rented 5 monster cards and 2 level 7 summoners:
- Kelya Frendul (level 7): cost of 5,170 DEC per day
- Thaddius Brood (level 7): cost of 4,285 DEC per day
I will monitor the rental market and if I find rental prices are not too high I will rent more cards with the goal of improving the game results and also the seasonal rewards of libertygame27.
My last battles played in Modern Format.
I conclude this post by showing my last two battles won in Modern Format to show the difference in SPS gain in different leagues and with different amount of staked SPS.

Il rilascio di un nuovo set di carte ha sempre un grande impatto sulle dinamiche di gioco di un TCG e questo vale ancora di più per Splinterlands perchè ogni nuovo set ha modificato in modo importante le dinamiche di gioco ma soprattutto ha modificato gli equilibri di gioco nelle varie modalità di gioco.
Il rilascio del nuovo set di carte avrà un grande impatto sulla mia attività di gioco perchè:
- la mia modalità di gioco preferita è il Ranked Play ma solo nel Modern Format perchè è l'unico formato del tipo ranked play riservato esclusivamente ai giocatori umani come me
- il cuore della mia collezione di carte, la parte più forte e competitiva della mia collezione di carte che utilizzo nel Modern Format, è costituita dalle carte Chaos Legion che usciranno dal Modern Format quando inizierà al general sale del Conclave Arcana Card set.
Non ho ancora deciso con precisione la mia strategia di acquisto per il nuovo set e non ho ancora deciso la mia strategia di gioco quando le carte Chaos Legion usciranno dal Modern Format ma con molta probabilità:
- continuerò a giocare nel Modern Format anche se avrò, almeno inizialmente, una collezione di carte molto debole rispetto alla collezione di carte che posso utilizzare oggi nel Modern Format
- ritornerò a giocare anche nel Wild Format
- utilizzerò le ricompense che guadagnerò nel Wild Format per costruirmi una collezione di carte nuovamente competitiva nel Modern Format
L'avvicinarsi della presale del nuovo set di carte ha già prodotto effetti positivi sul valore dei token DEC e dei token SPS perchè per acquistare i pacchi di carte è necessario utilizzare i token DEC o i credits ma il metodo più conveniente sarà come sempre utilizzare i token DEC a meno che il valore non superi il peg (improbabile ma possibile).
Prima dell'inizio della Presale scriverò un post in cui condividerò la mia strategia di acquisto e le mie considerazioni ma adesso ti mostro i miei risultati nell'ultima stagione che ho giocato nel Modern Format e i miei prossimi passi nella stagione in corso.
La mia doppia attività di gioco nel Modern Format: Risultati e prossimi obiettivi
Il mio formato di tipo ranked play preferito è il Modern Format perchè non ci sono bots e battle helpers.
A partire dalla stagione 152 ho raddoppiato la mia attività di gioco nel Modern Format e così, anche nell'ultima stagione conclusa (la stagione 156) ho giocato nel Modern Format con:
- @libertycrypto27 (il mio account principale) -> Cards
- @libertygame27 (il mio curation account per i token SPT) -> Cards
Con @libertycrypto27 nel Modern Format:
- utilizzo una collezione di carte (di proprietà + soulbound) composta da 1176 carte = 28629 BCX = 611525 CP = 2994$ Market Value (using Market Prices).
- ho un SPS stake = 134K (-50K delegati a libertygame27) = 84K SPS effettivo
- non noleggio carte dal mercato e utilizzo solo le carte di mia proprietà

Ho giocato più battaglie con il mio account principale (176 vs 110) ma in generale ho giocato molte meno battaglie rispetto alla stagione precedente perchè ho avuto molti impegni lavorativi e meno tempo libero negli ultimi 15 giorni.
Nella stagione 155 ero arrivato in lega Champion III, nella stagione 156 ho provato a entrare nella lega Champion III ma senza riuscirci anche se ci sono andato più volte molto vicino.
Nella stagione in corso cercherò di accedere nuovamente alla lega Champion III!
Ho migliorato il mio guadagno dal noleggio delle carte che non uso in battaglia rispetto alla stagione precedente.

Sono contento dei risultati finanziari di entrambi i miei due accounts soprattutto perchè sono migliorati rispetto alla stagione 155.
Con il mio account principale ho fatto dei buoni progressi nell'upgrade delle carte Rebellion Reward.
Più di 1 mese fa ho completato l'upgrade delle carte Rebellion Reward comuni.
Delle 12 carte Rebellion Reward rare ho completato l'upgrade di 11 carte tranne Dark Arborist che è al livello 7 e ho bisogno di 9 BCX per completare anche questo upgrade.
Con un totale di 134328 Glint a disposizione ho acquistato 50 Rare draw sperando di trovare 9 BCX di Dark Arborist.
Nei primi 50 rare draw ho trovato solo 3 BCX di Dark Arbonist e così ho acquistato e aperto altri 50 Rare Draw ma non sono stato fortunate e ho ancora 5 BCX da trovare per completare l'upgrade.
Rimanderò l'acquisto di altri Rare Draws all'inizio della prossima stagione perchè non voglio acquistare i Rare draws ad un prezzo maggiorato (batch 2).
Oggi ho acquistato anche 7 Epic Draw nei quali ho trovato le carte che puoi vedere nella prossima immagine.
Ho fatto 1 upgrade: Arachne Weaver: level 2 -> level 3
Spero di completare presto l'upgrade di Dark Arbonist così potro poi focalizzarmi sull'upgrade delle carte reward epiche.
Anche con libertygame27 sto facendo dei progressi nell'upgrade delle carte Rebellion reward anche se, avendo iniziato a giocare da poche stagioni, ho ancora molti draw da acquistare.
I miei prossimi passi nel Modern Format
Nella stagione in corso continuerò a giocare e a divertirmi nel Modern Format con il mio account principale e continuerò a giocare anche con libertygame27 anche se la difficoltà nel trovare carte evocatore di livello massimo da noleggiare a prezzi ragionevoli ha prodotto un peggioramento dei miei risultati di gioco e anche delle ricompense di gioco.
Infatti con il mio secondo account ho necessità di noleggiare almeno due evocatori di massimo livello per ottenere dei buoni risultati stagionali in termini di SPS e di Glint.
Nella stagione 154 ho giocato con solo 1 evocatore di massimo livello che ho delegato dal mio account principale al mio account secondario: General Sloan di livello 8.
In questa stagione ho noleggiato 5 carte mostro e 2 evocatori di livello 7:
- Kelya Frendul (livello 7): costo di 5.170 DEC al giorno
- Thaddius Brood (livello 7): costo di 4.285 DEC al giorno
Monitorerò il mercato del noleggio e se troverò prezzi di noleggio non troppo alti noleggerò altre carte con l'obiettivo di migliorare i risultati di gioco e anche le ricompense stagionali di libertygame27.

Se ti piace la tipologia di gioco di Splinterlands potresti anche provarlo subito anche e soprattutto perchè @mad-runner conosce molto bene Splinterlands e sarebbe molto utile per te avere i consigli di un giocatore esperto. Su Hive ci sono tante cose che è possibile fare tra cui i giochi ma vedrai che con il tempo le scoprirari tutte ;)

I think I'll follow a similar strategy to you. I'll have a weaker deck when Chaos Legion gets removed, and I'll wait for prices to go down before being selective with my purchases.

Congratulations on the ending of your season. I wanted to read about your plans for the upcoming pre-sale since you like playing in modern and CL cards are going to be rotated out soon enough. I don't know the max level summoner you're renting, but I didn't realize they have an input on the amount of SPS per win. The rental market is going up, perhaps it'll still remain profitable to rent these cards..
The archane weaver upgrade is such an important one.
In previous presales, I always sold a good portion of the cards that came out of Modern to buy packs and cards of the set prior to the new one. This strategy has always been good so far.
This time I will not sell my Chaos legion cards because I simply got tired of following my strategy even if it is the most logical one.
I think I will play in the Wild and use the rewards to grow in Modern and continue to have fun in modern.
I will probably play in the lower leagues than I do now in Modern but I think I will still have fun.
As for the next presale I will buy packs but not many, will prefer to buy individual cards from the market at a later time
