Good day everyone! I am thrilled to join this amazing challenge ASEAN HIVE CHALLENGE 156 and want to share insights. It is Sunday, meaning it is “market day”. I usually go to market Saturdays or Sundays. When I was a kid, my mom would go to “taboan” or what we call marketplace where everyone could sell any products. It is still clear in my mind how my mom haggling the price of the vegetable. My grandma, Lourdes who passed already used to be a vendor too. I can still picture how difficult for her to convince people to buy her products. With that, I am immensely proud of her!
This morning, I went to our Dumaguete City public market. It is the center or a place where local farmers sell their products to the consumers.
As I walked the public market, one thing that hit me was the smell of different kinds of fish, meats and seafoods. However, I am impressed by how neatly the vegetables and fruits were properly arranged.
How about the prices?
It is way cheaper than the mall. Mostly, I was shocked by how expensive things are in the mall. I wanted to share this: Buying in the market is a win-win already. You will be able to get fresh fruits, vegetables, and other goods while you are already supporting our very own local farmers plus you save money.
Robinson's Mall and the prices of fruits and veggies
Last week when we bought groceries. I saw that the price of sayote was too expensive as you can see in the pictures. So, I changed my mind not to pick it.
These were the veggies and snacks we ate from what we bought in the public market.
However, it is still your choice where to buy. I am just highlighting the benefits of saving money, being healthy while supporting our local farmers and vendors.
