Why Mindset is a Game-Changer

Building an online business really is a marathon not a sprint.

It's filled with loads of setbacks coupled with progress so slow at times that you feel you are going backwards which of course leads to moments of self-doubt.

Your mindset is what determines how you handle these challenges and makes sure that you don't fall flat on your face at the first hurdle.

• From Failure to Feedback:
  A negative mindset sees a failed project as a dead end. A positive, growth-oriented mindset sees it as valuable feedback.
  Remember your Lessons Learned ... It teaches you what doesn't work and gives you the data you need to pivot and try again.
  Remember the age old adage ......
  "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again."

• Embracing the Learning Curve:
  The online world is constantly evolving. A fixed mindset might resist learning new skills, while a growth mindset embraces every new challenge as an opportunity to expand your abilities.
  Whether it's mastering a new social media algorithm or learning to use a new tool, your willingness to learn is your greatest asset.
  Even though I am qualified Chemical Engineer, I had a passion for learning other things, I love knowledge!
  It prompted me later in life to take a Masters in Knowledge Management. The bottom line is that we should all keep learning and bettering ourselves at the same time!

• Staying Consistent:
  I am sure if you read my posts in particular then you are fed up hearing it, but ...
  Success online often comes down to consistency.
  Creating content, engaging with your audience and building your brand requires showing up day after day, even when results are slow.
  Your mindset is the fuel that keeps you going when motivation wanes or even fluffs off entirely!

Today's tip is simple !
Invest in your mindset as much as you invest in your tools.

Take 15 minutes today to do one of the following:

• Read a chapter of a book on personal development or entrepreneurship.

• Listen to a podcast from a successful online creator.

• Write down three things you are grateful for in your business journey, no matter how small.

Remember that the most successful online businesses are built by adaptable people who are resilient and see challenges as opportunities. Start by building up a stronger mindset and just watch how it transforms everything you do online.

I re-read Stephen R. Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and in particular Habit 1: Be Proactive.

I do think much of it is common sense and I tend to do things anyway, but it is always a good reaffirmation to push forward with things!

The key takeaway is that Proactive people focus their energy and efforts on their Circle of Influence. By working on the things they can control, they actually expand the size of that circle over time. Reactive people spend their time and energy worrying and complaining about things in their Circle of Concern, which ultimately gives external forces power over them and causes their Circle of Influence to shrink.

Covey teaches that you are the creator of your own life. By choosing to be proactive, you stop being a victim of your circumstances and start taking charge of your own destiny. It all reminds me of my mother telling me as a child that we make our own luck.

He releído Los 7 hábitos de la gente altamente efectiva, de Stephen R. Covey, y en particular el hábito 1: Ser proactivo.

Creo que gran parte de ello es de sentido común y tiendo a hacerlo de todos modos, ¡pero siempre es bueno reafirmarse para seguir adelante con las cosas!

La conclusión clave es que las personas proactivas centran su energía y sus esfuerzos en su círculo de influencia. Al trabajar en las cosas que pueden controlar, en realidad amplían el tamaño de ese círculo con el tiempo. Las personas reactivas dedican su tiempo y energía a preocuparse y quejarse de las cosas de su círculo de preocupación, lo que en última instancia da poder a las fuerzas externas sobre ellas y hace que su círculo de influencia se reduzca.

Covey enseña que tú eres el creador de tu propia vida. Al elegir ser proactivo, dejas de ser víctima de tus circunstancias y empiezas a tomar las riendas de tu propio destino. Todo esto me recuerda a cuando mi madre me decía de niño que cada uno es artífice de su propia suerte.
