Since I was young up to now, planting has always been a big part of our life, and one of the crops that my mom proudly grows is Spring Onions. Warm greetings to all gardeners and farmers here on amazing community.🌿
Spring onions, may look simply, but growing the, in the cold mountain area where my mom lives is a real challenge. The temperature is so cold that’s sometimes the leaves turn yellow, but still, they continue to grow strong. And nowadays, since onions are becoming very expensive in the market, around 200 pesos per kilo, we’re really thankful that my mom has her own garden full of fresh spring onions.
Planting spring onions may look easy, but just like all crops, it requires time, patience and hard work. My mom plants the under our house on the mountain slope, where the air is cool and the soil is rich. She weeds them by hand, checks the, almost every morning, and harvests once a week. Every harvest day is like a small celebration for us because we get to enjoy fresh organic without spending money.

What I love most is how my mom takes care of her garden with so much love. She never lets the cold weather stop her. Even if the leaves turn yellow because of the cold breeze, the onions still grow and multiply. And the best part? She always shares the harvest with neighbors and family. She believes that blessings should be shared. No matter how big or small.

Every time I watch my mom harvesting her spring onions, it reminds me how small things can make a big difference in our lives. While many people worry about the rising price of onions in the market, my mom just smiles and says she’s lucky to have her own garden. And she truly is. Her little patch of spring onions saves us money, gives us fresh food every week. And brings joy to our family. It may be a simple garden. But t helps us in so many ways. In the middle of high prices and hard days. It continues to be a quiet blessing for us.
So that’s our simple story about our spring onion garden in the mountain. I hope you enjoyed it! If you have any tips or ideas on how we can improve our spring onion planting, feel free to leave a comment. I’d love to learn from your experiences too.

Thank you for reading my story, this is my own picture. Edited in Canva. Have a nice day.
I love spring onions so much. Either fried or soup or kinilaw hehe. But it's very difficult for me to grow healthy this plant. I have mine in the backyard but only two stems left out of the 30 plus I planted. The worms ate more than mine🤣
Hahaha, worms really love spring onions sis! But don’t give up, sis. Try planting them in a pot next time or add a bit of crushed eggshells around the sol. I’m sure you will grow healthy ones soon.
ohh i see eggshells. i have newly planted one ill try putting egg shells on it.
