Hello everyone,
I hope you are enjoying everything that Hive Grove has been providing for you, between fun, challenges and nostalgia, I'm sure many of you have felt welcomed by Hive Grove!
Well, not everything is exactly roses (or trees), as I said in the Season 3 presentation post. Hive Grove is in a phase we can call beta, in which I am committed to listening to every piece of feedback I receive and building something that is truly lasting for everyone.
For this reason, we are facing a major challenge at the moment regarding having enough Hive Grove to pay everyone who purchased the Founder Trees, and to maintain this commitment and keep Hive Grove healthy in the long term, we need to restructure parts of the game.
With that in mind, I have chosen the path that protects what you already have, so I will not cut or modify anything regarding Founder Tree payments, and this is my commitment and word to all of you.
We had said that the five Founder Trees (Oak, Maple, Cherry, Willow, and Pine) would be removed from the Store by November 30th. That day will arrive much sooner: Tomorrow, November 4th at 3:00 PM UTC, the Founder Trees will leave the Store and the new trees will take their place.
If you own Founder Trees, nothing changes for them. They will continue to grow and yield as they do today, and your items will continue to function on them.
What comes with the new trees
7 new species, each with its own appearance and history.
From now on, only two trees of each type. Those who already had three Founder Trees will obviously keep all three until the end of their cycles.
Levels 1 to 10: your tree gets stronger as you harvest its fruits; each tree will have five attributes and a personality for each species: some have constant returns, others are lucky, some are bold, others are fast.
A tree profile showing exactly how much it returns, with much more information and transparency, showing vital and informative points of each tree.
A "safe path": without using items, your tree levels up in the same way, according to a fixed table for the species. The sheet shows how much it pays per harvest at each level and how many harvests are left until the next, and the normal payment is exactly that amount. Only the bonus continues to depend on luck, with the chance also shown on the sheet.
Reduction from 270 regas to 180 (approximately 6 months per tree) assuming you will claim every day consecutively.
The possibility of modifying tree stats using items purchased within the game. If you wish to modify them, the trees will have an "alchemy" type mechanic, in which you lose something to gain something. Thus, the stats will be modified in this way, increasing a certain stat while simultaneously decreasing another. NOTE: (This isn't coming now; implementation will only begin in 2027)
There will be a single image, no longer 5 different images for each stage. This makes it easier to implement skins, backgrounds, and even create new trees to make everything more dynamic and less monotonous. Faster changes and corrections will be quicker and less "stuck" because of this.
🌳🌳🌳🌳
So, before anyone shows up here yelling "SCAM ALERT," no, I'm not doing that, because in Hive Grove nothing is mandatory (maybe buying a land and a tree is 😆), but nothing beyond that.
You won't lose anything, just as you're not obligated to buy any new trees. They'll be there for newcomers or if you want to remove your own and buy them.
They are not better than the founding trees; in fact, this time I did a lot of analysis, simulated many values, and even when the mechanics of the modifier items come into play, these trees will not become better than the founding trees. They only have a less significant return and are much more sustainable.
In any case, on average, each tree returns a little more than it cost, and with the bonuses that will occur, you will probably have your invested value returned.
If you own all 10 plots, you get a free Greenhouse: an 11th plot just for a new tree. This bonus applies to those who own all 10 plots, now or when they buy the 10th. It only accepts new species, and the tree planted there counts towards the limit of 2 per species.
If you prefer to replace a Founder tree with a new one, the removal costs only 0.001 HIVE (it needs to be registered so the tree doesn't "resurrect"). The new tree in that land receives the caretaker trunk bonus and therefore a +20% bonus on the first 30 waterings of that new tree.
Unfortunately, this situation was my mistake. Hive Grove is the first game I've created that has truly managed to reach an active and engaged audience, and I really didn't expect that.
It turned out that I didn't do the tests and simulations I should have done at the beginning to see if it would be viable to pay everyone who bought their trees. I was naive not to test more to see how the health of Hive Grove would be.
Some players, like @rainbowdash4l, had already warned me that the system as it is would become unsustainable in a few months and that something would need to be done to stop this high cost.
Even though this isn't a game focused on "making someone rich" financially, a promise is a debt, so to pay everyone correctly and not leave anyone empty-handed, this emergency measure is necessary.
Each day a new founder tree is purchased, it further depletes the cash flow for future payments, so ending the sale of these trees is something that needs to be done immediately, and now the new ones will have much more sustainable APRs (Average Revenue Permits).
Not to mention that the game itself already has several mechanisms and actions to financially support its community:
Leaderboard with weekly payments for the top 20
Comment Rewarder of 40% on each Campfire.
I modified the Recap that is done on Wednesdays and Sundays to select the top 5 instead of the top 3, and each beneficiary receives 20% of that post.
The @hive-grove account received delegated HP help from several members, and with that, we already have a mechanism within the game to read, vote (manual analysis done by me), and comment on posts related to Hive Grove that the community makes.
I still have many other things in mind that will reward the active community; over time I will implement them, and I believe this will be good for everyone.
I know it's complicated to give any guarantee regarding cryptocurrencies nowadays, but I already have some ways to obtain resources until the founder trees naturally complete their cycle:
Return of Campfire payment
Posts made by the @shiftrox and @hive-grove accounts
Shared Snaps have a 10% beneficiary for hive-grove, so they also generate some revenue.
L2 tokens from both accounts that can help with Hive's contribution to the Hive Grove account.
I'm thinking of implementing a weekly mission where players have to make a post (1 post in 7 days seems fair) about Hive Grove, with the beneficiary receiving 5% or 10%. Many projects do this, and I'm considering the best way to implement it.
I already have it implemented and even created an account using the Metamask wallet; to finalize it completely, some tests are needed. Then it will be possible to invite friends and people from outside the Hive Blockchain, and with that, we will have future potential for resource inflow.
Increasing the HP of the @hive-grove account and, if necessary, future Power Down to generate resources.
In the worst-case scenario, I'll withdraw HP from my account (@shiftrox) to pay the players, in this case, only while the Founder Trees exist.
Beyond that, which isn't an absolute guarantee, I still want to try to find more partnerships or sponsors for the game, but that's a more delicate matter and I really don't have much time to do it, so it's a future possibility.
The Founder Trees were the first chapter of Hive Grove and remain yours, without cuts or hidden modifications; they are with you until the end if you so wish.
I apologize for the error in the calculations at the beginning of the game; it was something my inexperience made me do, and I hadn't understood or thought about how it would be in the future if the game scaled so quickly.
I still have many other things in mind that will reward the active community; I will implement them over time, and I believe this will be good for everyone.

as "Regas" escaparam :D
Haha, I'm going to change that name, too... I think I'll call it "harvest," so watering will become a separate action in the future.
