Hello!
Seems there is new a farmer in the village :)
If you scroll my blog a little you will find that I'm Splinterlands player, rather.
I started to blog on Hive few weeks ago, and during searching through communities, tags etc
I discovered that Splinterlands is not the only game on this blockchain.
Ok. Now you can laugh at me, because dCrops is here for a while. Well... it looks like beardy dwarves need some time to go out from their Moria :)
Long ago, when world was young... Maybe not THAT long ago, just before C19 I lived closer to the town, me and couple of my friends used to play board games every few days. We loved to play Gloomhaven, Twilight Imperium, Forbidden Stars - fat titles usually. But from time to time few people joined our ameritrash team, and slowly they infected us with euro games. Sadly we found that there are few really cool euros, like Brass, Terraforming Mars, Gaia Project just to mention some of them. Probably you know it, already. There was a day someone brought Agricola. Icon for euro games.
We all should join loving peace angels in heaven after we accepted and played this game.
Can you imagine? Mighty warriors! commanders! used to torn enemies with axes, blasters or chainsaws started to seed plants, milk a cow, gather eggs. It was not fall even. It was far worse,
because we started to play Agricola every week.
Agricola is a game similiar to dCrops. You have a farm, rounds are called seasons, there are plenty cards like assistants, upgrades - you spend your resources on. You have lifestock- horses, cows etc, plants, house you can upgrade, family you can enlarge. Very important difference is that you can use your harvested crops as seeds for the next season.
Agricola is a love/hate game. You start with barlely nothing. With cards you have on the beginning, you have to plan all your game. Early/mid game is very tight and reminds work on the fallow land, rather, just to explode in late game.
So - if you have some friends around you in your carbon life, and want to have a breake from digitals, and you like dCrops - Agricola same as tabletop games in general is a great way to go!
Here is link to Agricola on BoardGameGeek site - this is hub for tabletop games. Enjoy!
When I discovered dCrops I felt interested. First and the most important thing for me - this game is on Hive blockchain. I played few other games on BSC and ETH. Transaction costs can ruin the gameplay, when you need to pay gas fee for literally everything. I was looking for slow pace game, because Splinterlands is demending if you dont play only ranked battles.
Entry costs for dCrops are not that high, game is on Beta level, player base is not high aslo.
So why not give a chance?
I bought few Beta packs and few lands from the market also.
I started to play late Summer, so there was no chance to rush for Season chest, so I decided to prepare myself for Autumn. I used last days of Summer to plant and harvest some fast seeds, luckily I didnt sell them for shares, what helped me in Autumn quest already. I discovered that I had some credits for Christmas event so I changed them for chests. Sadly I joined the game to late to have get some really nice rewards from this event. I hope I will the next time!
My farm
Nothing too crazy. Just 3 land plots. As you see I planted few plants already. Working for my quest.
I used Speed Gro for garlic and one seed got realy nice reduction.
Autumn Quest
I have feeling I was lucky with randomness. I needed only few rerolls to get all quests for Autumn seeds and they are not too demending. As you can see I sold Basil I got from Summer season.
My plans for Autumn
My plan is:
1 plant the last 3rd Garlic seed on Average Landfarm;
2 plant 2x Hot Pepper on middle Fertile Land, using Speed Gro;
3 plant Raspberry on the second Ferile Land, after I will harvest Garlic.
Use second plot of this land for seeds I have in inventory
As I just started I dont have too many seeds so I want to use special ability from Hot Pepper and Raspberry.
I observe.
I think going for crafting/building is far too early, as I dont have recources from chests.
It will take a while to stack them. I could buy resources from the market, but I think this is better to buy lands for that Hive or to buy CROP/alpha packs to accumulate CROP Power for Hive aidrop and more items in season chests.
Other thing is: quantity or quality.
Boosters are more effective with bigger lands, but low quality lands are rather cheap,
but I would need lot of seeds to make use of them. Everything depends on budget and Im trying to find where the balance is.
Thats all for today. I hope it was not too disappointing.
If you have any advices for a new farmer, feel free to drop a comment :)
