I’m not a very enthusiastic gamer. In fact, splinterlands is the only game that has seemed to get and keep my attention over the past 5 years. Before that, I remember I used to play this racing needforspeed or something like that which I enjoyed a lot. Which is why when my buddies @rubilu and @abu78 recommended I check out mooncarts, I didn’t dismiss it. I like to think that the 2 of them have very good taste when it comes to gaming, as they were also the ones that got me into playing splinterlands.
What is moon karts game about?
If you’ve been gaming for a while, you probably would’ve guessed what the game is about when you saw “karts”. But for non-gamers, a kart is basically a fancy way to call a car in games. So Moon Karts is racing game. Unlike many other racing games though, moon karts is built on web3 and powered by our very own Hive Blockchain. While logging into the game, I also discovered something very interesting I didn’t know about – arcadecolony.
Arcadecolony is a basically your one stop shop to play all of your favorite Hive games. If you’re a gamer on Hive, it makes your gaming easier and more fun because you get to have a little pocket where all of your favorite games are hosted.
But the entire game is not non-stop racing. Like many of the other games on hive, there’s a marketplace where you can make in-game purchases of things like boosters to increase the efficiency of your kart, and even change the looks of your player. The game also allows you buy and sell packs, just like splinterlands, which I think is something a lot of spl players who love spl because of packs will like.
I have not played the game itself yet because I was prompted I had to purchase a vehicle before I could play, but over all the interface looks supercool and very futuristic. The UI looked like a tech-game (if I’m making sense) with a lot of attention to detail on the design. It’s great to see that it also has both single and multiplayer modes. I’m really forward to racing my friends. Although, I wonder if for the multiplayer mode, the game will be in split screen to show each players’ pov of the race, or if like splinterlands, it’ll simply be show one screen for both players but in this case, you both get to see only your pov of the race. I hope it’s the former. That sounds cooler.
I’m not sure I feel about the music – I think that the music can definitely get better. It’s not terrible, but it definitely can be better. You can always turn the music off if you don’t like it, and one other cool thing I noticed about the game’s attention to detail is both where the music toggle is placed and the animation responses that show whether or not the music is playing.
Overall, I feel great about Moon Karts. I didn’t proceed to buy a pack because I can’t afford one right now especially looking at how much I spent renting my spl deck recently. I think that somewhere over the next few days, I’ll throw some money to actually get to play the game because I’ve seen that my friend @rubilu has played the game and just the interface looks amazing, so I can’t wait. Until then, watch out for that post, and thanks for coming around.
