Pests are a problem for the horticulturist, but they are part of nature and we must learn to live with them. It is a mistake to try to eliminate them completely with products that in the long term will be much more harmful to us, causing serious illnesses. In this series of articles I will talk about how to deal with these small, undesirable living beings.

Black mold is a fungus associated with aphids and causes the most damage to our vegetables or trees. As every horticulturist knows, aphids suck sap from plants and then secrete a sugary substance that is used by ants. This is known as milking. The ants in turn care for and protect the aphids so that they can survive.
From these sugary secretions, the black mold fungus appears, which causes serious damage to our plants. If it spreads through the plant, it can even suffocate and kill it. The good part is that it is an easy fungus to combat. If we eliminate the aphids, we eliminate the black mold.
Once the parasites have been eliminated, it is enough to remove the affected areas and burn them. If it is very widespread, it is better to remove the plant and burn it.
