It's here again everyone, Friday the 13th is upon us once more! There was one last month and we are lucky enough to get a second one in two months. Or unlucky, I suppose, if you are superstitious about the day being unlucky. Personally it's never bothered me and I've always enjoyed playing the number thirteen when I've played roulette. I even won a couple of times! What do you think? Is Friday the 13th lucky or unlucky for you?
Having grown up the in the 1980's, one thing that I associate with the date are the movies by the same name. Friday the 13th has been around since May 9, 1980, and you notice it wasn't released on a Friday the 13th! Although not very popular with critics, the series has been a big money maker in the theater and even more so with merchandise from the films.
Just by chance, this morning I saw this coin from the island nation of Niue. I knew right away where my post was going today!

This coin had a limited mintage of 2,000 and was produced by the New Zealand Mint. It's one solid Troy ounce of silver, and pretty cool if I say so myself! As of the time of writing there is $83.45 in silver metal value, however, the best deal I could find anywhere was on eBay for $190. So they are carrying more than $100 in premium price. As much as I like this coin, I wouldn't pay that much for it. If I got it at around $100 I would buy it in a heartbeat. But somehow, I doubt that's ever going to happen!

Thirteen has been considered unlucky among many cultures going back to the Norse. It then became unlucky in Christian circles as Christ was crucified on Friday, and the last supper had thirteen in attendance. The myth becomes even bigger when the French King Philip IV had the Knights Templar arrested on October 13, 1307, yes, also a Friday. Why did he arrest them you may ask? Because he owed them so much money he couldn't pay it back, so what better way to get out of debt than eliminate your creditors?
Now back to the 1980's... I never have seen any of these in the theater as I was too young at the time to be admitted into movies rated R. I have seen a few on television, but to be honest, I've never been a huge fan. I guess I'm not a really big fan of slasher movies, but I know some people love them. The films centers on character Jason Voorhees who is thought to drown while attending camp and Camp Crystal Lake due to inattentive staff. But he didn't die... Over the years people call the lake cursed because people go missing there following the drowning. As it turn out, Jason had become a killer psychopath who wears a hockey mask and slashes people up with a machete. What a nice guy!

In the 1980's a total of eight films were produced for the franchise and even a television series spin off was produced. Although interestingly, it had nothing to do with Jason. Sporadically, over the years, more films have been produced, the last being Friday the 13th in 2009. Then before that there was the unforgettable title Freddy vs. Jason from 2003 pitting Freddy Krueger against Jason. I never saw that one, if you've seen it was it any good?
I'm sure the franchise isn't done yet, someone will surely come along soon and decide to produce yet another movie or series. After all, it's much easier to reboot an old series rather than create a whole new original one. That would require too much effort. My bet would be on Netflix or Amazon since they seem to waste money on so many stupid movies anymore...

That will do it for this Friday, and I hope you enjoyed the post. I do hope today is lucky for you all, so far it has been good to BTC as it's at $72K! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and thank you for all of your support. I really do deeply appreciate it. Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Friday the 13th my friend!!!🤗
I guess I have always been a contrarian, so Friday the 13th has never worried me!😇
$100 premium...... whoa .......they certainly are getting creative not only with the silver coin, but also the premiums Lol!!😇🙄
I'm not really a horror movie guy in general, but I always preferred Halloween. I don't know if I have ever actually seen any of the Friday the 13th movies. I noticed last month that we had two of them back to back. Crazy stuff.
The design of the coin fits the friday the 13th very well
That coin way too much expensive
