The Secret Behind The Switch.

The blueprint showed a room that shouldn't exist.

I rubbed my eyes twice to be sure I was seeing well. I was so sure I wasn't seeing well because tell me why everything matched the big old house except one small room that seemed to be hidden behind the stairs. Not only that, but I mean, I had lived in that house for over twenty years and never seen anything of sort.

It was my uncle's house, and I've been living with him before he even built that house. We moved in together into the house when he later built it, and because his wife had died some years back and he had no children, he handed me the blueprint of the house.

Well, I asked him why he didn't hand it over to some other or older family member...

"One day, you will understand." That was his response then.

Well, that day finally came; it came like a thief in the night. I made my way to the stairs and began knocking on the walls to know where exactly the opening might be. I found it in a matter of seconds, just behind one of the switches there. Immediately I touched it, and the walls moved aside to reveal a narrow path.

I made my way in; in my mind, it must be stocked up with treasures. But to my surprise, there isn't anything of the sort there. The room was small but somehow spacious, and it only has in it a chair, a table, and a shelf. On the table were dozens of letters wrapped up together.

I moved close and began to unfold the letters. What I saw there touched me. All of those letters were addressed to me. They were birthday letters, birthday letters of years to come, as if he knew he wouldn't be alive till then. He was more like a father to me, and he treated me like his son, but then... I wasn't expecting this. He clearly stated on the top of each envelope that I should unwrap each when it's time. Meaning I shouldn't unwrap another that is yet to come.

Well, the following day was my birthday, so I picked the first one up and read it. And for the first time since he died, it felt like we were actually conversing. At the end of the letter, there was a description that led to where I would see my birthday gift for that year.
