Splinterlands: The Outsiders Took Me Back To Diamond III 🔥

Aiming for a new tier in Modern Ranked is one thing; staying there and pushing higher is the real challenge. A few days ago I hit Diamond III with a 2,820 rating and expected to climb to Diamond II. Instead I was suddenly dropped all the way down to Gold II — frustrating, to say the least.

Recently I battled a with friend @dewabrata. Although I lost, I was blown away by her Water unit, Deeplurker a melee attack unit from the Chaos set— it was brutal. When my rank started sliding, I decided to try something different and grabbed a couple of Chaos monsters, even though the season is almost over. Since I didn’t own them, I rented Deeplurker and Sorriel the Bale,and I had one which I have never used for once Merdaarli Guardian and they are all from the Older/Wild sets.This is the beauty of playing the #splinterlands game consistently,win or lose, there's always something to learn. In addition, I have been seeing the recently added ruleset called the OUTSIDER, where you are allowed to bring in a monster from the . Older/Wild sets (Alpha, Beta, Untamed, Dice, Chaos Legion, etc.).However, I have hardly fulfilled that obligation—I have mostly concentrated on monsters from the Rebellion and Conclave Arcana sets, when choosing my deck for battle,along with a few max Foundation cards. But I think I will start considering the Outsider ruleset.

In these epic battles, I’ll show you how these three Outsiders turned things chaotic for my opponent and helped me win each match.

They pushed me right back into Diamond III with style and ruthless efficiency. Lesson learned: the right monsters (even rented ones) can turn a season around.

THE OUTSIDER LOGO.

The Outsider ruleset (or modifier) in #Splinterlands is a relatively new addition (introduced in 2026) that primarily affects Modern format battles.

Core Effect.
You can summon 1 wild unit.This means in a Modern battle (which normally restricts you to the two most recent card sets + Foundations), you get to include one card from older/Wild sets (Alpha, Beta, Untamed, Dice, Chaos Legion, etc.).

Context in Splinterlands Formats

• Modern Format: Limited to recent sets (e.g., Rebellion + Conclave Arcana + Foundations). This keeps the meta fresh and more accessible.
• Wild Format: Allows all cards ever printed.
• Outsider Modifier: Acts as a bridge — it gives Modern players a taste of older powerful cards without fully opening the format. It's especially useful in ranked play where the modifier appears randomly (more often in higher leagues).

In this battle,Sorriel the Bale was just too brutal,Sorriel has double strike( magic attack).now he is been granted the execute ability.He became ruthless, enjoy the replay.

BATTLE 3:MERDAALI GUARDIAN.

I personally had Merdaali Guardian @ Level 1,but I hardly use it in battle.But it single handedly made me to win this battle,by constantly topping the health of any monster in the tank position with its healing ability. Enjoy the replay.

In short, Outsider adds variety and nostalgia to Modern format by letting one older "Outsider" card join your team, rewarding players with deep collections while keeping the format mostly current-set focused.
