THE ULUNDS

Good morning warriors! Today I am sharing a battle were my Magic monsters carried the day against the ever formidable brutes from the ulund bloodline. It was a fierce and highly contested battle.Happy viewing.
I welcome 🤗 you to my blog @zusi78.I have always loved using my magic monsters in battles, especially if the rulesets(modifiers)is not affecting their magic attack abilities. So far in modern and frontier ranked battles,my magic monsters have won for me 90% of my battles.
Splinterlands is no walk in the park, but that's what amps up the excitement.A winning strategy weighs stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and beyond. That's why you must factor them all into your deck building. Toss in strong cards to boost your setups, and push hard to rack up as many victories as possible! 🔥

Let me tell you about the Ulunds and their bloodlines:

The Ulund bloodline in Splinterlands is seriously formidable, especially if you lean into tanky, resilient, grindy playstyles. These humanoid hippo warriors (Beastborn faction) are built like absolute units: broad, barrel-chested, and designed for soaking damage while dishing out punishing counters. The whole theme screams “unparalleled resilience,” and it shows in the cards.
Someday, I will take the time to talk extensively about them. Here are still some mugshots and thumbnails of the Ulunds for your viewing. Let me just give a hint about Bella Ratajowlski and Bellomancer.
BELLA RATAJOWLSKI(ARCHON) Bella Ratajowlski is the most common (and often best) summoner for the ulunds. She’s an Archon that excels at physical defense setups, granting things like Deflect to make your team immune to certain blasts or redirect damage. She’s particularly strong in rulesets like Explosive Weaponry or when you need a rock-solid Life/Neutral anchor. Pairing her with Ulund monsters turns your lineup into a defensive fortress that’s hard to break through quickly.

PIXIE-KNIFE-HURLER

MYSTIC MUDBINDER

BELLOMANCER Bellowmancer is a (Legendary) unit. This is the poster child for “ultimate wall.” 10 armor + 9 health at max level, Void Armor, Shield, Taunt, and magic damage from the backline. It’s neutral so it slots into almost any deck. People call it one of the best taunt/tank units in the game right now. Insanely versatile.

In Splinterlands, reading and understanding the ruleset is so important—it helps you select and position your deck to a large extent.
Battle and lineup.

The ruleset for this battle states thus;
All units have the burning status effect applied at the start of combat (at the beginning of round 2, burning has a 33% chance to spread to other units. All burning units lose 2 Burning can be cleaned) This is what the splinterlands community callen GLOBAL WARMING.
The total mana cost of this battle was 51,and you are to chose splinters from any of the elements.
Lineups Side-by-Side
MY TEAM – Pure Magic Speed Burst (Marlai Singariel summoner)*.
100% magic damage. Zero physical attackers. Every monster benefited from Marlai’s magic buff. Positioning abilities (Snipe / Sneak / Charge / Scattershot) let you ignore the tank and delete the backline support instantly.
OPPONENT’S TEAM – Bella + Heavy Ulund Sustain (4/6 bloodline).
4 Ulund bloodline monsters (Overseer, Mudbinder, Regulator, Calabash Sage). They were clearly chasing Bloodline Tribute buffs (+health/speed/armor on deaths) and trying to make the Overseer unkillable with triple tank heals.

Round 1
Nothing much happened at first, but towards the end I lost my tank, while calabash sage activated tank heal on ulindin overseer after receiving heavy hit from my magic attacks

Round 2
This is where it gets interesting, the rules says at the start of round 2 all units receives -2 damage. So units with large health are at advantage already in situations like this.

Global Warming effect.

Round 3.
Another new round, another wave of global warming taking out those units with low health.
The ulunds where in total confusion.

Round 3,Scene 4.
As it stands,I am already at an advantage,3 against 5.

Round 3,Scene13.
3 against 1.

Game Over.

Key Takeaways for the Community
Ulund bloodline is still formidable ,when the ruleset favors physical grind (Armored Up, no DoT, etc). But it has a clear weakness to pure magic burst + speed + bypass abilities.
Global Warming rewards high-health sustain over pure armor. My opponent’s heal-the-tank fortress folded because Burning is true damage. Next time you see this ruleset, prioritize raw health + Resurgence/Life Leech/Cleanse.
This was a clean, well-executed demolition. My magic-speed machine exploited every weakness in my opponents' setup and the ruleset perfectly. Hippos are tough, but not when you bring the flamethrower.
Thank you for reading and watching my post.Yours truly,@zusi78, signing off.
Just a bit of the final rest ability is enough to slow down the Ulund bloodline tribute strategy. Thanks Rila Fen!
