Season after season, I continue to add many excellent cards to my deck; meanwhile, at the end of the previous season, Splinterlands' new CEO also delegated several powerful cards to me. Although delegated cards remain in your possession for only a limited time, the fact remains that—even if just for a short while—my deck has certainly acquired some very powerful cards. However, this does not imply that such cards alone are sufficient; developing winning strategies requires a variety of cards—including those that, at first glance, may not appear particularly powerful, yet whose performance on the battlefield truly speaks for itself. I rented two such cards this season, and based on my experience so far, both are absolute masters at what they do—provided, of course, that you utilize them correctly. Both of these are Magic cards. The Magic cards currently in my deck possess a Power of 2; however, I felt there was a lack of balance and protection, which is why I initially rented these two cards for testing purposes.

The first of these is the Elf, which possesses a mere 1 Health but comes equipped with 10 Armour. At first glance, seeing just 1 Health might lead one to believe that it would be instantly obliterated by a single attack from an enemy with magic attack power; however, this is where the magic of its "Void Armour" ability comes into play. This ability redirects the damage inflicted by incoming magic attacks from the Elf's Health onto its Armour instead. Consequently, technically speaking, this card possesses not just 1, but a total of 11 effective Health points. As a result, in any battle, you can comfortably position it in the front row to serve as a "tank," with the rest of your team's heavy hitters positioned safely behind it. However, you must remain mindful to ensure that "Void Armour" is an active part of the match's ruleset; otherwise, the ability will not activate, and—standing at the very front of the lineup with only 1 Health—this card might not survive even a single enemy attack, let alone an entire round. Furthermore, this card possesses an ability known as "Corrosive Ward," which inflicts -2 damage to the Armor of any enemy cards that launch melee attacks against it. Thus, if utilised correctly, "Void Armour" provides a layer of protection against magic attacks, while "Corrosive Ward" acts as a form of retaliation against melee attackers by dealing return damage to them—thereby allowing the rest of your formidable team members, positioned behind the Elf, to execute their attacks against the enemy with ease.

Next up is the second card, the Elemental. With a Mana cost of just 6 and a Magic Attack power of 2, it is considered a solid card; furthermore, its stats feature a blend of Health and Armour—something I personally view as a positive sign. This is because the presence of Armour alongside Health ensures that excess damage from Melee and Ranged cards (lacking the Piercing ability) does not directly deplete the Health pool; in this sense, Armour effectively provides robust protection to your card's base Health. Beyond this, the most distinctive feature of this card—and the very reason I chose to rent it—is its Resurgence ability, which helps cards self-resurrect once per battle with 100% health and armour. And with that new life, the card deals 1 physical damage to all the cards on the battlefield, removes all magic debuffs, and all magic buffs are reapplied. However, it skips its turn to attack in that round. However, that new life—which comes with 100% Health and Armor—empowers your team significantly, as it effectively functions as an extra card. And since even a mere +1 boost in Health, Armor, or Attack Power can turn the tide of battle, just imagine the immense impact of having an entire extra card at your disposal.🔥
