One thing I enjoy about collecting cards in Splinterlands is the idea of gradually completing a set. Instead of buying random monsters whenever I have the chance, I sometimes like focusing on a particular collection and seeing how far I can go.
There is something satisfying about finding the cards that are missing and slowly bringing everything together. It also gives me a reason to explore monsters I might normally overlook. A card may not be particularly popular, but it could be an important part of completing a collection.
I also find the different editions interesting. Each one has its own place in the game’s history, and discovering older cards makes browsing the marketplace more enjoyable. Some cards stand out because of their artwork, while others catch my attention because of their abilities or rarity.
Of course, completing a set can become expensive, so I would not want to rush the process. I prefer checking prices, comparing listings, and deciding which purchases make the most sense. There is no point in stretching my budget just to complete everything quickly.
Another thing I consider is whether the cards I collect can also be useful in battles. It is nice to own cards simply because I appreciate their designs, but I especially enjoy finding monsters that serve both collecting and gameplay purposes. That way, my collection is not just something I look at; it also gives me more options when building teams.
I have realised that collecting does not always need to be about owning the rarest or most expensive cards. Sometimes, the enjoyment comes from setting a small target and gradually working towards it. Even finding one card I have been searching for can feel like progress.
I also like that there is always something else to discover. New goals can emerge as my collection grows, whether that means exploring another edition, finding particular rarities, or upgrading cards I already own.
For me, completing a card set is less about rushing to the finish line and more about enjoying the process. Every purchase brings me a little closer to a goal, and every discovery makes the collection more interesting.
