The 5 Stages of a Splinterlands Battle
I think every Splinterlands player goes through the same five stages during a battle.
Stage 1: Confidence
You see the ruleset.
You check the mana.
You look through your cards.
Then you build your lineup and think:
“Yeah, this is a good team.”
You are feeling confident.
Everything makes sense.
You are already expecting that victory screen. 😂
Stage 2: Doubt
The battle starts.
Your opponent’s lineup appears.
You look at it for a few seconds.
Then you start thinking:
“Wait…”
“Why did they choose that card?”
“Is that card going to cause a problem?”
Suddenly, the confidence is disappearing. 😂
Stage 3: Panic
The first few attacks happen.
Your tank takes more damage than expected.
Your attacker misses.
Your opponent’s cards are performing perfectly.
Now you are sitting there thinking:
“Please don’t do this to me.” 😂
You start hoping for certain attacks to land.
Every single turn suddenly feels important.
Stage 4: Acceptance
Eventually, you realize there is nothing you can do anymore.
The lineup has been selected.
The battle is happening.
Your decisions have been made.
So you just sit back and watch.
At this point, you start analyzing what went wrong.
“Maybe I should have used that other card.”
“Maybe I should have changed the position.”
“Maybe I shouldn’t have trusted that card.”
😂
Stage 5: Revenge
The battle ends.
Maybe you win.
Maybe you lose.
Either way, you immediately start thinking about the next one.
If you lost, you’re thinking:
“Okay, I know what I did wrong. Let me try again.”
If you won, you’re thinking:
“That strategy actually worked. Let me try it again.”
Then you enter another battle.
And the entire cycle starts again. 😂
That’s what makes Splinterlands so addictive for me.
Even when a battle goes badly, there is always another one.
There is always another strategy to test.
Another card to try.
Another lineup to build.
And another opportunity to convince yourself that this time you definitely know what you’re doing. 😂
Sometimes the battle goes exactly how you planned.
Sometimes it goes completely crazy.
Sometimes you win because of a great strategy.
Sometimes you win and honestly have no idea how.
And sometimes you lose and immediately blame the card before realizing the card was innocent. 😂
But at the end of the day, that’s the fun.
Splinterlands gives you plenty of serious moments, but it also gives you plenty of reasons to laugh.
So if you’ve ever gone from:
“I’ve got this.”
to
“What is happening?”
in less than a minute…
