Splinterlands Journey β€” Day 10: Learning to Think Before I Battle

Day 10 of my Splinterlands journey, and I am beginning to realize that the more I play, the more I understand that this game is not just about attacking the opponent and hoping for the best.

When I first started playing Splinterlands, my main focus was simply getting into battles. I wanted to see what my cards could do, try different combinations, and hopefully get some wins. At that stage, I was still learning the basics and trying to understand why certain battles went my way while others ended in complete disaster.

Now, after spending more time with the game, I have started approaching battles differently.

Before putting together my team, I try to look at the ruleset and think about what type of strategy would work best. I also pay more attention to the amount of mana available because that can completely change the way I build my lineup.

Sometimes I want to use powerful cards, but the mana limit makes that impossible. Other times, the ruleset makes a particular ability much more useful than usual. This is where I am beginning to appreciate the strategic side of Splinterlands.

Positioning is another thing I am paying more attention to.

It is easy to think that your strongest card should always go in the first position, but that is not necessarily true. Some cards are much more useful from the back because of their abilities, while others can protect the rest of the team by taking attacks early.

I am slowly learning that every position has a purpose.

One of the most interesting things about my journey so far is how much I learn from losing.

Of course, nobody likes losing a battle. πŸ˜‚ There are times when I look at the result and immediately think, β€œWhat just happened?”

But after looking back at the battle, I can usually find something I could have done differently. Maybe I selected the wrong tank. Maybe I placed an important card in the wrong position. Maybe I ignored an ability that my opponent used very effectively.

Those losses are actually becoming lessons.

I have also started paying more attention to the abilities on my cards instead of only looking at their attack and health. Abilities can completely change a battle. A card with lower stats can sometimes be more valuable than a stronger card because of the ability it brings to the team.

That is one of the things that makes the game interesting for me.

There is always another combination to test.

Another thing I like about Splinterlands is that every battle does not feel exactly the same. Different rulesets, mana limits, cards, and opponents can force me to change my approach.

Sometimes a strategy that worked perfectly in one battle fails completely in another.

That means I cannot just depend on one lineup all the time.

I have to keep adapting.

The rewards are also part of what keeps me interested. Ranked battles can provide Glint, and there are different ways players can earn rewards depending on how they participate in the game. Splinterlands Support β€” How You Can Earn from Splinterlands

For me, however, I am trying not to focus only on the rewards.

I want to actually become better at the game.

I want to reach a point where I can look at a battle before it starts and have a good idea of what strategy I want to use. I want to understand my cards better, make smarter decisions, and become more consistent with my wins.

I also want to experiment more.

There are cards and combinations that I have not fully explored yet, and I think trying different strategies is one of the best ways to learn. Sometimes the best way to understand a card is simply to put it into a battle and see what happens.

Day 10 has made me realize that my Splinterlands journey is becoming less about simply playing battles and more about understanding the decisions behind those battles.

I am still far from being an expert.

There are still plenty of battles where I make mistakes, choose the wrong lineup, or get completely surprised by my opponent. πŸ˜‚ But I am definitely learning more than I was when I started.

Ten days in, and the journey is still just beginning.

I am going to keep playing, keep experimenting, keep learning from my losses, and hopefully keep improving with every battle.

Tomorrow is another day, another set of battles, and another opportunity to see what I can learn.

The journey continues.
