As I continue my journey with Splinterlands, I am beginning to appreciate that becoming a better player is not something that happens in a single day. It takes time, patience, and a willingness to learn from different situations. Every battle presents an opportunity to understand something new, and even when things do not go as expected, there is always something I can take away from the experience.
One thing I have been thinking about lately is how important it is to develop my own understanding of the game. It is useful to learn from other players, explore different strategies, and discover how certain cards work together. However, I also need to understand the reasons behind the decisions I make. I do not want to select cards simply because someone else used them successfully. I want to understand what makes a combination effective and when it might be suitable for a particular battle.
This is where observation becomes important. Before a battle begins, there are several things worth considering. The available mana, the cards I can select, their abilities, and the possible strategies my opponent might use can all influence my decisions. Taking time to consider these factors helps me approach the match with a clearer plan rather than making choices without thinking them through.
Of course, having a plan does not mean everything will happen exactly as I expect. Sometimes, an opponent may use a strategy that challenges my assumptions. In other situations, I might realize that a card I selected does not contribute as much as I had hoped. These moments remind me that preparation is important, but the ability to learn from the outcome is equally valuable.
I have also come to understand that confidence and overconfidence are two different things. Confidence allows me to trust the decisions I have made after considering my options. Overconfidence, on the other hand, can make me ignore important details because I assume I already know what will work. I want to keep building confidence without losing the willingness to question my decisions and consider better alternatives.
Another important lesson is that progress can sometimes be difficult to notice. When I think about improvement, it is easy to focus only on winning more battles or achieving a particular result. However, there are other signs of progress worth appreciating. Understanding an ability that previously confused me, recognizing a mistake before repeating it, or becoming more careful with team selection can all be meaningful improvements.
These small developments matter because they build a stronger foundation. The more I understand the game, the easier it becomes to evaluate different options and make decisions for the right reasons. I may not notice a major difference after every match, but continuing to learn can gradually improve the way I approach future battles.
I also want to become more disciplined about reviewing my decisions. After a battle, I can take a moment to consider what went well and what could have been better. If I win, I should still think about whether my strategy was effective or whether there were weaknesses I could improve. If I lose, I can look for possible mistakes without assuming that the entire approach was useless.
For me, this mindset makes playing Splinterlands more interesting. Instead of treating every match as an isolated experience, I can connect the lessons from one battle to the next. A decision I make today might help me understand a difficult situation tomorrow. Something I learn from an opponent might inspire me to test a different combination in a future match.
I know there is still plenty to discover, and I do not expect to understand every part of the game immediately. There will be unfamiliar situations, difficult opponents, and strategies that require more thought than others. Rather than seeing these challenges as reasons to become discouraged, I want to approach them with curiosity and patience.
Reaching Day 18 of this journey is another reminder that consistency matters. Showing up, playing, observing, and learning are all part of the process. The goal is not simply to accumulate battles but to become more thoughtful about how I approach them. I want each experience to contribute something useful to my understanding of Splinterlands.
As I move forward, I want to keep experimenting with different cards, paying attention to my opponents, and improving the way I prepare for battles. I also want to remember that every player develops at a different pace. Comparing my progress with someone else’s will not necessarily help me improve. What matters most is understanding where I am, recognizing what I need to work on, and continuing to make progress.
Day 18 is another step in the journey, and I am looking forward to discovering what the next battles will teach me. There is always another strategy to explore, another mistake to learn from, and another opportunity to make a better decision.
