One thing I have come to enjoy about Splinterlands is the freedom to make my own decisions before entering a battle. I get to look through my collection, consider my options, and decide how I want to approach the match. Sometimes, I feel confident about my choices almost immediately. Other times, I find myself thinking twice because I can see different possibilities and I am not sure which one would be best.
I think that uncertainty is part of what keeps the game interesting for me. If I knew exactly which cards to choose every time, preparing for battles would probably become less exciting. Having to consider my options makes me pay more attention to the game and gives me a reason to keep learning about my collection.
There are moments when I prefer to play it safe. I might lean towards cards I already understand because I feel more comfortable with their abilities and know what I want them to contribute to my team. There is nothing wrong with that, especially when I have a particular approach in mind. However, I have also realized that always choosing what feels familiar can stop me from discovering other possibilities.
That is why I want to become more willing to take calculated risks. I do not mean choosing cards without thinking or putting together a lineup just to see what happens. I mean being open to options I might normally overlook and giving myself the chance to learn from the experience. Even if the result is not what I hoped for, I can still gain a better understanding of the cards I used.
One challenge I face is knowing the difference between a thoughtful risk and a decision I have not properly considered. Sometimes, an unusual combination might be worth exploring, but I still need to think about whether the cards can work together. I want to develop the habit of asking myself why I am choosing a particular card instead of selecting it simply because I feel like trying something different.
I also remind myself that a single battle should not determine how I feel about a card or a strategy. If something does not work once, it does not necessarily mean it will never be useful. The situation, the opposing lineup, and the way different abilities interact can all influence the outcome. Looking at the bigger picture helps me remain open-minded instead of making quick judgments.
Another thing I am learning is that confidence comes from experience. The more familiar I become with my cards, the easier it should be to understand their strengths, recognize their limitations, and make decisions without doubting every choice. I know I will not reach that point overnight, but I am willing to keep learning and improving gradually.
I sometimes think about how much of the game happens before the battle even begins. The decisions I make during team selection can influence how I approach the match, and having a clear idea of what I want my cards to accomplish makes the process more enjoyable. I like the feeling of entering a battle knowing that I have at least taken the time to consider my options.
At the same time, I do not want to become so serious about making the perfect decision that I forget why I enjoy playing. Splinterlands is a game, and part of the fun is experimenting, discovering new possibilities, and occasionally surprising myself with a choice I would not normally make. I want to find a balance between thinking carefully and allowing myself to enjoy the experience.
As I continue playing, I hope to become more confident in taking sensible risks while remaining patient when things do not go according to plan. I want to learn from the cards I use, appreciate the ones that perform well, and understand the ones that do not fit my approach as expected.
Every battle gives me another opportunity to make a decision, and I am learning to appreciate that opportunity rather than worrying too much about getting everything right. For me, progress means becoming more thoughtful without losing the excitement of trying something new.
