My New Favorite Combo in Modern

Earlier this week I have posted about Kha'zi Conjurer and how I really like using that card in small mana, back to basics and a few other scenarios. Well, thanks to @beelzael who told me about Blazebeard Merc and delegated me one I now have a new favorite combo in Modern Kha'zi Conjurer and Blazebeard Merc.

The Power Combo

This Power Combo works really well in small mana battles as well as in medium and higher mana battles. The Battle I am sharing here is illustrating how these two cards can be used effectively even in a 34 mana battle, which is towards the higher mana battle size.

The reason these two work really well together is that both of these cards are overpowered for the amount of mana they come with and they both have the same flaw: Incendiary ability that applies burning in the beginning of round two and each following round. Burning has a 33% chase of spreading to the adjacent units.

Since both of these cards have incendiary ability they cannot spread burning to each other. Also, Blazebeard Merc has Charge ability meaning that he can attack from any position. Thanks to this ability Blazebeard can be put right before the Kha'zi Conjurer in the very back of my lineup.

Both of these cards are of epic rarity, I have a maxed out Kha'zi Conjurer so it comes with a base speed of five, base health of five and base ranged attack of six. For this battle my summoner Risqruel Drath boosts his attack to seven and all for only two mana!

I am playing Blazebeard Merc at level three, but at maximum level of six this little card becomes an absolute beast:

For only three mana you can get five melee damage to start with five health points and a Bloodlust ability! This is a really powerful monster at the max level, but even at level three it is very effective.

The Strategy

Lets see the battle, this battle is a thirty four mana battle where you cannot use legendary monsters and explosive weaponry ruleset is in effect. Whenever I see explosive weaponry ruleset I think of the fast and high damage monsters and Kha'zi Conjurer fits right in!

I also like to use snipe monsters that have good ranged or magic damage and in this case I am using Gobson Sniper which comes with a base ranged damage of three that I have boosted to four using Risqruel Drath.

To protect from the splash damage I placed Thunderhoof Nomad in the second position behind Drybone Magalodon that has a good melee damage along with the retaliate ability.

In third position I placed another ranged monster with a scattershot ability Muspelheim Demon

And finally in the back we have Kha'zi Conjurer and Blazebeard Merc delivering lots of damage for only five mana combined.

Let's see how this will playout

In the first round our high damage monsters ripped through their frontline. Even resurrection ability on their tank didn't help much as our team scored three kills in the first round without loosing any monsters of our own:

The two backline monsters did catch burning but it has not spread any further. The second round started with a massive strike from Kha'zi Conjurer that took out their frontline monster and splashed four damage on their second monster:

After that our team made quick work of their remaining monsters and the battle was over in the second round!

I must say that bots were recently changed to be a lot stronger after that video from Tales from the Crypt Mancer and my ranking dropped from Champion Three to the very bottom of Diamond One.
