Splinterlands 🐉| Winning a Underdog Match!

This week's Splinterlands Community Negotiation Challenge features a very different theme: Underdog Victories. While not everyone may be familiar with the term "underdog," it refers to an unexpected victory in which your team was at a certain disadvantage, yet with strategy and a bit of luck, you often manage to secure the victory.

In the case of the Splinterlands event theme, it refers to a match in which you managed to win against an opponent who had a clear advantage, such as more mana, more units, or more upgraded cards, and yet you still managed to win. Details of this "Underdog" Match!

This theme is completely related to the objective of Splinterlands, which is to be a card game focused on strategy. The best combination of cards, depending on the rules and available elements, guarantees victory more than a single strong team. The crypto game was designed this way so that players seek to have as many cards as possible, focusing on unique cards for certain situations. This creates demand and helps balance the market, preventing players from focusing solely on a certain set of cards, which would lead to many others being forgotten.

In this match, as you'll notice, the opponent had a summoner named "Avina of the Wolf - Human," which many might consider stronger because she could use one of two abilities, being from the Rebellion summoner pool from which the player can choose. While he could choose between giving Heal to one of the cards or +2 Speed to two cards, I didn't have any buffs with my summoner Prunda Undervesch.

Out of curiosity, I went to Peakmonster to check out all the most used summoners in the Rebellion collection, which are these rare summoners with two abilities. An interesting point that demonstrates the strength of this summoner, Avina of the Wolf, is that of all the summoner options, she's the most expensive, with a low buy of $1, while the first Nomos is less than half that. On the other hand, Purnda Undervesch is selling for $0.79, while the cheapest BCX is $0.40. This shows that, depending on your strategy, it's possible to achieve victory in Splinterlands with fewer resources than your opponent. The difference ultimately lies in the capabilities of each player.

Analyzing Strategies: Ally vs. Opponent!

After understanding in more detail the "underdog match" theme and the entire scenario of the match in question, with the rules and available elements, let's analyze the strategy used by the players, in this case the allied units and the opponent's units.

Let's begin by analyzing the strategy used by the summoner. Even though Prunda Undervesch doesn't have an ability like the opponent's summoner, she still has two major advantages, both of which depend on the player's strategic ability. The first advantage is mana expenditure; while Avina costs 5, Prunda only costs 3, leaving 2 mana to use on units.

Furthermore, being a Dual Element, it allows you to choose the best cards from both the Water and Life elements, which allowed me to choose the Anachron Bolter to counter enemy archers, while as DPS I could use the Shock Trooper, which deals 4 magic damage.

It's quite curious that both players chose to use Janni Rebel, due to her high HP stat and decent DPS, but she ends up losing the use of her Inspire ability. Choosing two archers was a very poor choice in this scenario, as they didn't have a strong defense to prevent them from ending up on the frontline and were also nerfed by Anachron. While the opposing tank only had 7 HP, my Ulundin Overseer had 12 HP.

I didn't like the opponent's use of Gallicus, because right at the beginning he took 4 damage and was almost defeated, unable to contribute anything because of his very poor Speed, so he was defeated without doing anything. In the end, he ended up losing to himself, using a not very good strategy.

Nessa semana temos um tema bem diferente presente no Splinterlands Community Enegagement Challenge, que é sobre Underdog Victories. Como nem todos podem conhecer o termo “underdog”, ele se refere à uma vitória inesperada, em que o seu time tinha uma certa desvantagem e mesmo assim você com estratégia e um pouco de sorte muitas vezes, consegue garantir a vitória.

No caso do tema do evento do Splinterlands, ele se refere à uma partida em que você conseguiu ganhar contra um oponente que tinha uma vantagem clara, como mais mana, mais unidades, cartas mais upadas e que você ainda assim conseguiu vencer. Detalhes dessa Partida “Underdog”!

Esse é um tema que tem total relação com o objetivo do Splinterlands, que é ser um jogo de cartas voltado para a estratégia. A melhor combinação de cartas, dependendo das regras e elementos disponíveis, garante mais a vitória do que um único time forte. O jogo crypto foi pensado dessa forma para que os jogadores busquem ter o máximo de cartas, visando cartas únicas para certas situações. Isso cria demanda e ajuda a equilibrar o mercado, evitando que só um certo conjunto de cartas seja o foco dos jogadores, o que faria com que muitas outras ficassem esquecidas.

Nessa partida, como você vão observar, o oponente tinha uma summoner chamada “Avina of The Wolf - Human”, que muitos podem considerar mais forte, porque ela poderia utilizar uma das duas habilidades por ser do conjunto de summoners do Rebellion em que o jogador pode escolher. Enquanto ele poderia escolher entre dar Heal para uma das cartas ou +2 de speed para duas cartas, eu não tinha nenhum buff com o meu summoner Prunda Undervesch.

Como curiosidade fui até o Peakmonster, conferir todos os principais summoners mais utilizados da coleção Rebellion, que são essas summoners raros com duas habilidade. Um ponto interessante que mostra a força dessa summoner Avina of The Wolf, é que dentre todas as opções de summoners ela é a mais cara, com um low buy em $1, enquanto o primeiro Nomos está menos da metade. Por outro lado, a Purnda Undervesch está sendo vendida por $0,79, enquanto o BCX mais barato está $0,40. Isso mostra que dependendo da estratégia é possível chegar na vitória no Splinterlands, com menos recursos que o seu oponente. A diferença acaba sendo na capacidade de cada um dos jogadores.

Analisando as Estratégias: Aliado x Oponente!

Depois de entender com mais detalhes o tema de “partida underdog” e todo o cenário da partida em questão, com as regras e os elementos disponíveis, vamos analisar qual foi a estratégia utilizada pelos dos jogadores, no caso as unidades aliadas e as unidades do oponente.

Vamos começar a analisar a estratégia utilizada pela summoner. A Prunda Undervesch mesmo não tendo uma habilidade como o summoner do oponente, ela ainda tem duas grandes vantagens, mas que dependem da capacidade de estratégia do jogador. A primeira vantagem está no gasto de mana, enquanto Avina custa 5, a Prunda, custa apenas 3, deixando um crédito de 2 de mana para utilizar nas unidades.

Além disso, por ser uma Dual Element, ela permite escolher as melhores cartas de ambos os elementos Água e Vida, o que me permitiu escolher a Anachron Bolter para counterar os arqueiros inimigos, enquanto como DPS usar o Shock Trooper que dá 4 de dano mágico.

É bem curioso que ambos escolheram utilizar a Janni Rebel, por conta do alto status de HP e um DPS descente, mas acaba perdendo o uso da habilidade Inspire. A escolha de dois arqueiros foi muito ruim nesse cenário, porque não tinha uma grande defesa para evitar que ele acabem na frontline e ainda foram nerfados pela Anachron. Enquanto o tank oponente tinha 7 de HP apenas, o meu Ulundin Overseer possuir 12 de HP.

Não gostei do uso do Gallicus pelo Oponente, porque logo no início ele recebeu 4 de dano e quase foi derrota, não sendo capaz de contribuir em nada, porque tem um Speed muito ruim, então foi derrotado sem fazer nada. No fim acabou que ele perdeu para si mesmo, fazendo uma estratégia não muito boa.
