Splinterland's: Why I feel converting DEC to SPS is a good call.

I was collecting SPS since it's inception and worked seriously towards my gola of 300K SPS and my plan was to accumulate 300K SPS and afterwards whatever SPS I get, my plan is to convert it into Hive. But SPS keep showing the downward trend and my SPS stake now sits at 435K SPS if I account all of my accounts with my main account itself having close to 409K of SPS staked. Since I already have more SPS than my initial goal, so I had revised my goal to have 500K of SPS but I am not aggressive for this goal. Instead, I am now more vigilant of SPS market and how the price SPS is moving.

I had played Splinterland's for long and still plan to have a another good stint in this game. For this, I keep re investing in the game do save the game earnings for the future usage too. What I save is kept in the form of liquid DEC. Liquid DEC is great in the sense that pack prices were fixed in terms of DEC, but in the same time liquid DEC is like a money that is not earning anything for you. Does converting it into SPS solves the problem?

This depends what is the price equation between DEC and SPS. Currently for 1000 DEC you get more than 110 SPS. Now if some announcement and market situation get the pump in both DEC and SPS. We atmost expect 1000 DEC to be valued $1.05 but if SPS become 1 cent, it will be valued at $1.10

Also, if you stake your SPS, you will get additional 8% APR on top of it. Based on Voucher price it varies but I did not aobserved it below 6.5%. So it look like you are getting double benefit by converting DEC to SPS in the future.

What the catch?

Though liquid DEC does not earn anything but it is available like cash for you , if you want buy some cheap deals. It can be used for trading profits too. While long term goal of SPS sounds good but it require SPS staking. SPS staking lock the SPS as unstaking unstake 25% of SPS per week. So SPS is locked and benefits are locked for future and subject to if SPS price rise in future beats the DEC price rise in future (Probablity of it is always high but timeframe and liquid availablity of SPS at that juncture also matters.

It is also in current scenario, hoarding SPS instead of DEC look favourable but maybe in some price scenario it will be not favourable at all.

I am currently keeping balance where I keep one portion of DEC for buying cards and one portion to SPS to strengthen my account for future too.
