Hey everyone, while I have some spare time let's make another Splinterlands post to make up for my week of absence. 😆
Depending on your playing style it can depend whether you even see what the other team likes to play and has played a lot on the previous five battles, some names I just recognize because I see them on a regular basis, that's the nice thing about a smaller player base while playing in a certain league I guess. 😃
When I see this name, it reminds me this person likes to use Tofu and I don't even have to see the previous battles but it's nice when it's confirmed there of course, there's also a player that uses Lorkus in every chance they get, good to know and to remember... 😈

So this ruleset combination was an interesting one, we could only make use of melee units but at the same time all units will receive the Shield ability, in this case it's important to remember that the damage is rounded up, so if you can choose units that have 3 to 5 damage so when it gets halved by the Shield ability, it will still hit with 2 or 3 damage.
With only 18 mana the options were very limited to begin with and if you expect Tofu to kill your team with the use of Thorns, there's only one answer: Elias / Slade, who isn't harmed by Thorns because of it's Deflection Shield ability.

Without magic, Slade is a formidable tank both offensive with it's high attack power as defensive with the high armor and health points and being really fast helps him in dodging many attacks, with most of the enemy units only have 1 or 2 speed, they will have a hard time hitting Slade in this battle.

Because of the Shield ruleset the damage is halved and it took a round before Slade could start killing units,my Frigid Wolf did a nice job in keeping Buttercup Mauler busy until Slade was done with killing the front line, after that he couldn't be touched and it was all misses!

Just like with countering Mylor with a full Magic / Archer squad back in the day, countering Tofu is always satisfying. 😄

You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.
