A zero damage battle against maxed Nidhogr!

temp1.jpg

Good morning fellow Splinterheads, well.. at least at the time of writing it's a morning for me, πŸ™‚ I have another cool battle to share with you all against one of my least favorite accounts in Praetoria so a victory against this player is always extra sweet, in fact I fought only three battles this morning until I met this player again and I got another victory as the underdog, reason for me to stop ranked play because the chances of winning against a maxed Nidhogr team are not even 25% probably, so... let's make another post and hope he's gone when I return because I have still some energy to get through and hopefully daily wins, SPS and Glint to collect.

How is the season going for you? Yesterday I was really high with my rating but I didn't want to stop playing to not miss out on more Glint and SPS, I see many players are starting to burn SPS for extra Glint and this is a great feature to help the SPS token in the long run, I won't burn any of it though because I have not met my first goal of 250k but even then, I won't stop accumulating there. 😊

Before we go to today's main topic, I had a question, or rather a call for a skilled (or not) player that like to join our ranks.

Looking for a new Modern Bronze guild member.

One of my Guild members told me he was thinking about quitting altogether with the game, but already stopped submitting 90% of their brawls so I am in need of a new player with a low level Modern deck, so do you know a new player who can use some guidance bring me in contact and I can be that person, I like to teach new players πŸ™‚ also if you have an alt account with some modern cards that's without a guild, come and help us out!

Ranged Only, one of my favorites!

This battle was fought a season or two ago probably, and I saved it to later make a post about and then life got busy and I didn't make one, so now is the time! πŸ˜ƒ

One of my favorite strategies in 'Going the Distance', which is the official name but Ranged Only is easier to remember and understand, is stacking Headwinds to create a strong wind so the enemy damage is brought back to 1, or at least close to 1, so it won't do any damage on my really nice Gold Foil Legendary card Gallicus.

Gallicus GF CARD.png

With only limited incoming damage, my Caravan Guard can heal the damage that does come through if there is any and although my own damage isn't very high my team can now slowly start to degrade the other team. Gallicus is a reward card from the previous set and not many players have this card higher than level 1, where it only has the Taunt ability but not the Shield ability, at level 1 this card is very useless, with only 5 Health Points combined with Taunt it gets killed FAST.

Still, a maxed out Nidhogr is nothing to take lightly because it's a formidable Archon even at a low level and it has surprised me many times with battles in which I thought I would be victorious but I wasn't.

The Tactics went to Sultry Barmaid and Razorhound and my opponent chose to go with the extra speed and Execute, To be fair, if the tactic was Blast there was still a good chance I would have lost the fight because the blast damage would have taken out my Anachron Bolter with enough damage so my Caravan Guard couldn't heal this.

My team is very slow, with exception for my Fenmoor Wood Troll so there were a lot of misses, the enemy Taunt had the Dodge ability so that didn't help with accuracy and it wasn't until late in round 4 the first kill was finally made, with 0 damage to my own team they have time on their side.

image.png

Slowly but surely, more enemy monsters started to fall and it was only a matter of time before this battle would be victorious, even if it is this long - most battles I fight don't reach round 7.

image.png

With the enemy Headwinds gone, the pace got higher with more outgoing damage and soon, victory was mine - a common Archon with only one Legendary monster in my team, pretty cool!

Like I said it was an extra sweet victory against this player because I lose probably 8 out of 10 battles against one of his many accounts, the Glint and SPS rewards are really nice and adds up when you play every day.

You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.

Well, that's it for today, thanks for stopping by and maybe we'll meet on the battlefield!

VONAK!
