Splinterlands | Finally Started playing the Frontier Mode

Hello Splinterlands fam!

I hope you all are doing well in life and enjoying an amazing day with your friends and family. Now, for those of you who put their minds into splinterlands on a daily basis, I guess you all are pretty busy with the game right now, because right now, as I am writing this post, less than 3 days remain for this ongoing ranked season to meet its end. So, for those who are actively playing this season, I guess many of you have already reached your goals, whether it is to reach a certain league tier and collect those lucrative Reward chests or to secure a spot in the glorious champion league leaderboard. But those who haven't reached their destination yet, well, you have to hurry, my friend, because there’s not much time left for the season and the season-end bloodbath has probably started as well.

Frontier Mode

Now, talking about myself, I have recently started playing the game back again and the reason for this is obviously the newest Frontier mode addition in the game. I am sure all of you have already seen and are probably playing this new game mode that just got added to the game. But for those who are still sleeping in a cave, splinterlands has just recently launched a brand new playing mode in the ranked section called Frontier mode, where you can only use Foundation edition cards to play this mode. This mode is a completely free-to-play ranked mode, where players just need foundation edition cards, which can be earned through playing the campaign and frontier mode for free, and battle energy mana, which gets filled automatically with time. So no investment is needed to play this mode, but it does come with rewards such as foundation edition cards, Potions, etc.

Frontier Leagues Overview

Just like the modern or wild format, this mode also includes different leagues from bronze to gold league and each league has 3 tiers, i.e., Bronze I, II, III. As you continue to play and win matches against human opponents in this mode, you start climbing the trophy ladder and advance to the next tiers. When you start playing this mode for the first time, you will start your journey from the Bronze III league tier with 0 trophy count. Winning each match will earn you 20 trophies and after maintaining a 2+ winning streak, each next win will earn you 40 trophies, just like the older formats. But losing a match win reduces 20 trophies from your total trophy count and also breaks any winning streak if active. Now, the Bronze league ranges from 0 to 999 trophies and when you reach 1000 trophies, you will enter the Silver league. The silver league ranges from 1000 to 1899 trophies and the next and highest league, gold, ranges from 1900 to 2499 trophies.

Daily Rewards

Now, comparing this newest mode with the old ones, just like the modern or wild ranked modes, here also you require battle energy to be able to join a battle, but you would not need to stake SPS to win rewards in this mode. Talking about rewards, you can win foundation edition cards, potions and also rare edition gold and black foil foundation cards as well, as per the new update that got rolled out just recently. There are two types of rewards that you can earn in this mode: the first one is daily rewards, where winning 5 matches will earn you a reward and there are 3 rewards that you can earn daily by winning a total of 15 matches in a day. The rewards come in the form of foundation edition cards and the higher league tier you reach, the more cards you will earn from each of those rewards. For me, when I started playing the frontier mode, I was winning only 1 foundation card per reward, but after reaching the very next bronze II league tier, now I am getting 2 foundation cards from each reward. So basically, in order to win all 3 rewards, each day you have to play and win 15 ranked matches in this mode.

League Tier Rewards

The second kind of rewards is league tier rewards and this reward type unlocks after you reach the Bronze II league tier and unlock your first league tier reward chests. From there onwards, upon reaching every new league tier in a season for the first time, you will earn these reward chests and the more and higher league tiers you reach in a particular ranked season, the more and better rewards you will receive. For example, reaching the Bronze II league tier will earn you 5 minor reward chests and Bronze I will get you 10 minor reward chests, and so on.

My journey

As I said earlier, I have started playing this new ranked format just recently and after playing it for a while while introducing myself to the new cards, just yesterday I managed to climb up and enter the Bronze II league tier. My current trophy count is 440 and in order to reach the next league tier, Bronze I, I still need another 260 trophies, which is not at all an easy task if you ask me, especially with the limited number of foundation cards I have in my arsenal and limited experience. But I will keep playing and training myself and hopefully, as I continue to play and increase my foundation card collection and gather experience, I will perform better in the future.
