Splinterlands Goes Free-to-Play: Introducing the New FRONTIER Format!

The reason I like Splendorland's game a lot is that it's not just a game; it's trying to build an ecosystem where everyone is welcome. They continue to make changes in the game, and all these changes are for the betterment of the project, benefiting every player and investor in different ways. Earlier, I thought that the game was only for the people who are good at gaming, but down the line, I realised that that is not the case. Many people have invested in different assets in the game, but they do not play. Some of them follow 'scholars' practices, while other players use their assets to play the game. Possibly, some of the investors have rented out their assets, including the card and tokens, to earn some rental income, which is also a good idea. Now let's move to the point why I say that Splinterlands is way more than just a game.

FRONTIER Format Live!

The Splinterlands game has launched a new format of the game, which is called Frontier, and this is a free-to-play format. It's a great initiative, I would say, because this will encourage a lot of new players to be part of the game, and since it is free to play so they can also feel the essence and experience the real taste of Web 3 gaming. Splinter Lands is not a free-to-play game; rather, it is play-to-earn, where some sort of investing is required, but with this format, they are opening the doors for new players who can experience real gaming with this format, and later on, they can also start their investing journey on the game.

Currently, we only have the option for the people who invest in the game, and then only they'll be able to play the battle, apart from the practice, and practice does not bring anything in terms of value. By introducing the frontier format, they have done a great job on the platform, where I believe a lot of new players will be coming, and I also think that they need to promote it a lot to bring more eyeballs to the game.

Expect more Onboarding

A lot of people in the world want to play a game that is fun and gives an amazing experience, but they do not want to invest in the game in the beginning because they are not sure what their experience is going to be like. Now with this option, all those people have got the option to enter the game and play it like a regular player without investing anything which will encourage a lot of people to try it o, ut and if they like the experience which is most likely going to happen, then we will see a lot of people joining the game. Because of this reason, we can expect more people onboarding in the game, and obviously, for any gaming project bigger the community, means bigger the ecosystem, and that adds up a lot of value in the game revenue and overall market cap. This will be a great value addition as a whole to the game ecosystem, and I'll not be surprised if we see a big number of people coming to the game, which will also add more value to the Hive because the game is built on the Hive Network.

More Demand for Cards and Tokens

It is quite obvious that not everyone will be investing in the game, but at the same time, it is also not possible that everyone will continue to play the free game. Now it is important for the game to maintain its conversion ratio, where these free-to-play players will be converted to the other group that keeps on investing in the game assets. Let's suppose that this conversion ratio is about 20 to 25% in the beginning, and we are getting a few hundred users getting onboarded in the next few months, then undoubtedly it is going to increase more number on the demand side of in-game assets. This will continue to happen, obviously, so in the long run, we're going to see a significant rise in the asset value also.

Overall, it's a great move by the project team, and I appreciate what they've done by launching this format of the game called FRONTIER. I'm hopeful that this is going to be a great value addition that will make things more valuable, and we are, since already part of the game, so we are going to benefit, but at the same time, we also need to promote the game with bigger groups, especially on social media. Social media is the best tool to bring more attention to the project, and now we have multiple reasons why people should be getting on board with Splinterlands, and out of them, this new free-to-play format is the best one, which is like a USB in the game now.
