I recently discovered Frontier format in Splinterlands, and in this post, I'll share some of my experience with it and a fun battle I had.
I won't go into too much detail because I want to make a specific post on this topic soon. So, a summary of Frontier format is that it's a type of ranked battle that has its own energy and allows you to earn tradable Foundation cards.
You didn't read that wrong, Frontier format has its own energy system, which means you won't consume the energy from Modern and Wild formats.
In Frontier format, you can only use Foundation cards.
To get Foundation cards, you have two options:
If you choose to earn cards by completing Campaign mode, you'll only receive Level 1 Soulbounds cards. These will be useful at first, but if you want to advance to higher leagues, you'll need to evolve them. Buying cards from the market may be the best option for faster earnings.
I'm still new to Frontier format, so I can't give many tips right now, but I'll soon be posting more details about this format and the strategies I'll use.
Finding Campaign mode in Splinterlands is very simple; just go to Play, and there you'll find the Campaign option.
There are two options: Book 1 and Book 2, but only Book 1 is currently available, and it's in Book 1 that you'll get Level 1 Foundations Soulbounds cards.
Each chapter will reward you with Foundations cards, so I recommend completing them all to build a good initial collection of Foundations cards.
The chapters also provide important tips on how battles work in Splinterlands, so if you're a newbie, Campaign mode will be a great help.
As I mentioned before, the focus of this post isn't an explanation of Frontier format, but rather a fun battle I had, so let's take a look at that battle.
This is the battle, and as you can see, I have fewer monsters than my opponent, so I'm at a disadvantage, but I managed to emerge victorious.
My strategy was very simple.
This battle has two rules: Equal Opportunity and Back to Basics.
Equal Opportunity: Under this rule, all monsters gain the Opportunity ability, meaning they target the enemy monster with the lowest health.
Back to Basics: Under this rule, all monsters lose their abilities.
I love using monsters with magical attacks, and for this reason, Marlai Singariel was the right choice for this battle. It's also the reason I emerged victorious, as the difference between victory and defeat was only 1 health.
The battle was fun, so if you're interested, watch until the end.
After this victory, I decided to open my first reward in Frontier mode, and my gains were:
I didn't get a Legendary or Gold Foil card, but this card will be very useful in my collection, especially when it reaches maximum level.
To conclude this post, I'd like to invite you to explore the Arcade Colony platform. There, you'll find Splinterlands and three other games that might catch your attention.
