Blockchain-based gaming has currently created a new horizon in the online gaming world. Especially card-based blockchain games are now considered not only entertainment but also a potential source of income for many gamers. Splinterland is one most popular names among such games. In this game players collect various cards build decks with them, and earn rewards through battles. At the same time, buying and opening packs collect new cards is an important part.

Recently I bought and opened a Standard Pack of the Conclave Arcana series. The experience after opening pack was exciting on the one hand, but on the other hand, it created a mixed feeling of profit and loss when calculated from a practical perspective. In this article, I will discuss in detail that experience the value cards received compared investment, and the overall profitability opening the pack.

Decision to buy a Conclave Arcana Pack

When a new set series is released in the game, there is a different excitement among most players. New cards mean new abilities, new strategies, and the potential sell for a good price in the future. That's why I decided buy a Standard Pack from the Conclave Arcana series.

This pack cost about 4,000 DEC, which is an important in-game currency. DEC can be used buy various items in the game, especially when many people use it buy card packs. When I bought the pack, I still thought that maybe if I was lucky, I could get a good rare legendary card.

Another reason for buying pack was curiosity. Opening pack is often necessary find out what cards in the new series look like, what their abilities are, and what kind impact they might have on games meta in future.
The excitement opening the pack
The moment opening pack is always a special experience for gamers. When the pack is opened, the cards are revealed one by one, and players get excited see the rarity and power each card.
I had the same feeling when opening this pack. It seemed that maybe a valuable card could be found. Because sometimes a single legendary gold foil card is worth more than the cost entire pack.
But reality doesnt always live up expectations. I've had some that experience as well.
Cards from the pack
After opening the pack, I got a total of five cards. These were:
Bella Ratajowlski (Rare)
Steppe Stalker
Thunderous Herald
Ashen Cindergrim
One of these cards was a rare card, which is usually a guarantee in Standard Packs. The rest of the cards were common or normal rarity.
At first glance, the cards didn't seem bad. The Bella Ratajowlski card in particular was attractive to look at and had some useful abilities. However, when calculated from an investment perspective, the question arises—is the combined value of these cards equal to or greater than the cost of the pack?
Investment vs. Value Received
The market value of the cards is probably not very high compared to the amount of DEC I spent. Most of the time, the price of common cards is very low, especially right after a new set is released.
Because then there is a large supply of the same card on the market. As a result, the price naturally decreases.
The same situation was observed in this pack. Even though a rare card was found, the total value of the cards overall probably did not equal the cost of the pack.
However, this cannot be called a complete loss. Because these cards can be upgraded in the future, the level can be increased, or their market value may also increase if their use in the game increases in the future.
Risks of opening packs

Opening card packs is a lot like a lottery or a game of chance. Sometimes a very valuable card can be obtained from a single pack, and sometimes nothing significant can be obtained even after opening several packs.
This uncertainty is one of the features of opening packs.
Many experienced players say that if someone wants to collect cards only for the purpose of profit, it is often more reasonable to buy the necessary cards directly from the marketplace.
Because then you know exactly which card you are getting and how much it costs.
Why do we still open packs?
Although it may not always be profitable from an economic perspective, many players still like to do it. There are a few reasons behind this.
First, the experience opening packs itself is a lot of fun. It adds excitement game.
Second, if you're lucky, you have the chance get a Legendary Gold Foil card, which can sometimes be very valuable.
Third collecting new cards is also important for game progression.
Personal Assessment
To sum up my experience opening this pack, it was average.
I didnt get any very valuable cards that would make the investment worth it. On the other hand cards arent bad at all.
Especially if these cards can be combined and leveled up in future, they can be useful in gameplay.
Future Plans
I learned one thing from this experience—packs should be opened primarily for fun and possibility, not with the hope guaranteed profits.
In the future, I may open packs occasionally, but same time plan buy specific cards from marketplace.
This will make it easier strengthen deck and reduce unnecessary risks.
the experience opening Conclave Arcana Standard Pack was quite interesting. Although I didnt get very valuable cards compared investment, it wasn't completely disappointing either.
One characteristics blockchain gaming is its uncertainty and possibility. Sometimes a small investment can yield big returns sometimes it can yield less than expected results.
My experience opening this pack is an example that reality.
So opening packs may not always be profitable, but it greatly increases excitement and joy of the game. the main purpose playing games is enjoy.
