Dos palacios y una catedral // Two palaces and a cathedral

Hola querido hiver.

Hi, dear hiver.

When I visited the exhibition on Treasures of Asian Art, I had some time to spare when I left. I took the opportunity to take some photographs, which I am sharing here today. As I often say, the best way to learn is through practice.

IMG_9907.JPG

IMG_9908.JPG

These first two photos are of the La Lonja building. This is where the exhibition was held, and I took them before going inside. This Renaissance palace is beautiful both inside and out. I love its straight lines and symmetrical shapes.

IMG_0084.JPG

IMG_0085.JPG

Once I left the exhibition, I headed towards the streets surrounding the Cathedral of San Salvador, popularly known as La Seo. They are narrow, dark streets, despite the fact that it was a bright afternoon. Although the color of the cathedral's main tower appears somewhat burnt, I like the mixture of tones I obtained.

IMG_0091.JPG

IMG_0092.JPG

I wanted to take a photo with the lanterns hanging against the sky, but the narrowness of the street prevented that shot. The best I could do, twisting like a snake and steadying my hand, was the image below. Maybe another time I'll find the frame I was looking for, hehe. If that happens, you know I'll show it to you.

IMG_0093.JPG

IMG_0090.JPG

I went to another Renaissance palace, the headquarters of the Royal Cavalry Order of Zaragoza. I have never been inside, but I will remedy that soon. It can only be visited on weekends, which are precisely the days I avoid going to the city center. But at my next meeting with my childhood friends, we have planned to see it, so in a few months (I hope) you will also be able to enjoy it on this blog.

IMG_0088.JPG

IMG_0089.JPG

A couple of details that I always like to include in these photography exercises. They were intended for a post about textures, but I finally decided to include them here.

IMG_0095.JPG

IMG_0097.JPG

I'll finish with another closer view of the Seo, from its south side and with the north facade of the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Zaragoza, the only one that can be photographed in its entirety. The detail of the interrupted wooden eaves is curious. I suppose they'll explain it to us when we visit, I'll let you know.

Until the next post. In the meantime, take care!

Hello Paloma, you live in a beautiful city. You did very well to take advantage of that time after visiting the exhibition to take some photographs of La Lonja building. It is spectacular, not only because of its symmetry, but also because those heads on the façade fascinate me. The whole publication is wonderful... I am also glad that those photos intended for a post about textures will end up here.

I can only thank you for this tour, thank you very much.

A big hug.

I think the heads are from the gentlemen who put their money to build the building. Most of them are merchants.

My opinion is completely biased, I recognise it, but I also think that the city is beautiful. 😁

Thank you for accompanying me on the walk. 😘

I love the city where I live, it’s beautiful and has lots of attractions. Thanks for appreciating!

Wow great architecture shots. They certainly are eye appealing to the streets. I really like the dated handles and such on the doors.

0.00000000 BEE

I like to mix open views with small details like those of the doors, it makes the posts more dynamic. These streets are difficult to appreciate the buildings well and there are many palaces that deserve your photo, hahaha. I have to go back more often to repeat the practice.

The city has many palaces from that time but the Lonja is one of the best preserved. For a few decades, care has been taken to rehabilitate and conserve spaces of interest like these.

How are you, dear friend @palomap3?

What a beautiful place! I love the architecture of the buildings; the large openings are so beautiful.

Another thing that really caught my attention were the beautiful streetlights and the narrow streets.

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful photo essay.

Have a beautiful day.

I’m good and hope you’re doing well too, dear.

This is the downtown area and has many streets like this, narrow and irregular. Every corner is unique.

Thanks for the visit and the support.
