Mycelium Growth

I've had my terrarium for just over two years now. Been such a fun project/gift to receive and watch grow over time, especially in its own little ecosystem without any outside interference.

When I set the terrarium up I made sure to add a bunch of springtails for any future issues like this with moulds or decaying plant matter that the tiny springtails could help clean up.

Owning something like this is always so interesting as you never know what to expect! At first as the months went by it seemed lovely inside the jar, then I guess due to a temperature spike a ton of tiny fruit flies started hatching and going through their own life cycles.

This went on for months until they one day just all died out, my springtails remained and I thought great, no harm no foul, then eventually some worms of somekind had hatched too or??? I have no clue, those wondered around my jar for weeks and months again dirtying up the sides it was very annoying! but once again the issue worked itself out. Now all these months later I moved the terrarium to a cooler location and after a month in the new spot, it seems to have sprouted mycelium patches all over. Which is a shame, I do not want my jar to be taken over by a fungi. Time to put it back in a warmer position and monitor the mushroom growth!

THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY!
