Hello great ladies of hive, you are all welcome to my blog once again. Today I will be sharing my thoughts on the Ladies of Hive contest #212 topic which is:
"What brings true happiness and how important is it to you, to pursue it?
Happiness is a very important aspect of human life but obviously in our world today a lot of people tend to narrow their perspective about what true happiness really means, they only experience happiness based on how they define it to be.

Some people think and believe that happiness is achieved by accumulating wealth and possessions, most people tie their happiness to material things like money and how much asset they tend to have. Funny enough, a lot of people still can't find true happiness even with their wealth.
Please lets try and understand that money is not what brings true happiness, if true happiness was tied to money then we would say that happiness is only meant for the rich and wealthy people which is not true even the poor experience happiness. I have heard people say a lot of times that there would be happy if they had lots of money, these set of people do not truly understand what true happiness is, they narrow their thoughts to money as a source of happiness.
Most people assume to be happy only when they have achieved professional success and some people believe that finding "the one" or being in a romantic relationship will bring eternal happiness. All these are people's perspective of what true happiness is and I am not trying to counter or argue with whatever belief you have about true happiness.
To me happiness is a personal experience, you create your own happiness nobody can make you happy more than you should do to yourself. Happiness is not tied to material things or people, if it is tied to material things then you will definitely get sad when that thing is not available and if you feel it is tied to people then you will also be sad whenever the person that brings you happiness is not available.
You do not need anybody's validation to be happy it is self induced. It took me years to grow and fully understand that true happiness originates from within, it is not something that can be bought, achieved or received from external source it is what we cultivate from within It's not dependent on external circumstances, it's rooted in our internal being.
That does not mean we can not be sad, no! we are humans and we have emotions but my emphasizes about true happiness is that we make ourselves happy, it is something we derive from within. It all centers with our minds, how we choose to respond and react to situations either make us constantly sad or happy.
When I was quite younger, I used to believe that people make us happy and some things makes us happy but later on I came to realize that it is not about the people that make us happy rather it is about how we respond to the people that triggers our happiness from within, and our mindset towards a particular thing also have a way of triggering our happiness.

I had this class mate back then in high school, this guy tends to smile all the time that it seems annoying to me, most times I'd ask him if he doesn't get sad, he smiles even when he is being flogged, even when someone speaks to him rudely he still smiles, even when he is scolded after some while he still smiles and act like nothing happened, he was not sick, he was very healthy and intelligent.
Most times I do feel maybe he has a spiritual problem that makes him smile all the time. One day, I confronted him and I asked him what is always making him smile and cheerful always even in bad times, guess what he said to me, he told me "I choose to remain happy and cheerful, nothing changes by being moody".
Though his reply did not make any sense to me, I later discovered that this guy was going through tough moments, his both parents passed on but he still retains his smile like nothing ever happened, it was then that his reply made sense to me. I was so inspired by him and that was how I learnt to cultivate my happiness gradually till now.
So dear friends, Happiness is derived from within, do not tie your happiness to something so insignificant as money, favorite food or snacks, people etc. You are the author of your own happiness do not wait for people to make you happy it all begins with you.

Happiness is far beyond achievement not success, it's a feeling that emanates from our inside to the outside.
