Another week of thoughtful topics from the Ladies of Hive community. I’ll answer both questions as I couldn’t choose one.
Do I believe in soul mates? Yeah I do. What I do not believe is that soul mates only exist in romance. Depending on the context and the way with which we look at the concept of soul mates, I think it is possible to have more than one.
What are soul mates even? From my point of view, they are people connected in the most genuine and profound ways. They are not linked by only superficial ties and their interests in things, to me, it feels like way more. I feel that the bond of soul mates transcend time and even space (if you can say that). They have a mutual understanding of what real relationships are and they accept that “feelings” are not all that matters.
I believe that soul mates are more than gist buddies or partners. They are pillars because they understand you and like my soul mate would say, “they feel like your thoughts in person”.
Do I believe that you just find soul mates? Are they destined by divine orchestration or can they be built? Honestly, connection has to happen first and I do not believe that you can have a soul mate just based on the knowledge that they are. Effort into maintaining and holding that relationship is required for it to really matter.
My number one go-to when I need reprieve is always changing. I can’t say that one thing gives me joy because one day, my interests may just change. I haven’t read a book in a while and rather spend my time on comics. There was a time I was watching movies days on end, mostly k-dramas. Right now, I’d rather catch up with the drawn characters.
I also have music. As usual, my moods determine the kind of song I play and I always try to play upbeat songs when I feel down but I learned that when I am sad, I am sad. Trying to lie to myself doesn’t help. Trying to be strong and happy all the time, I have learned, only hurts me more and puts me at a door of powerlessness. The next thing is I’m snapping and breaking, turning me into a monster.
Music makes me happy, puts me in a good mood. It is also a stimulus for me and I use it to create a reality I want to experience. Music elevates my mood. I like to clean to music and well, I love a good boost of dopamine.
Also, random thoughts make me happy. I can just remember a funny video or something that happened with friends that put a smile on my face.

I've met plenty soul mates...
Some lost over the passing of time.
I feel it's just based on how well your body and thought process clicks with that person.
There's a philosophical theory that humans are like jigsaw puzzles, where every new piece is found, made or given throughout their time in life.
These pieces are people who help change the form of the puzzles, and soul mates are the pieces that fit in extremely well, they're those godsend middle piece that just pops in.

I made up the bit about the philosophical theory though 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Well, it sounds about right. Pieces come as pieces fall away and that's why we become a mirror of what directly affects us
