Was sagt ihr dazu?

Yesterday I was again at a super nice Hive Meetup at the Hive Bar in Vienna and have two interesting points for you.
I chatted with @solymi about the new soulbound cards at Splinterlands. The new reward cards are linked (chained) to an account and cannot be transferred or traded for 1-2 years.
What is the meaning behind this? Players and bots will be bound (no pun intended) to Splinterlands for 1-2 years and the actual playing will be incentivized to play the game. I'm curious when the cards will be unchained and how much the unchaining will cost and what they will be worth then. Already got a few Soulbound cards, but think it will be hard to get the rare gold cards despite Potions.
@blue.rabbit made an exciting suggestion to create an incentive for running API servers. API Servers are database servers that are extremely important for front-end interaction and scaling (for example, for @peakd, hive.blog, or @ecency).
So far, while Witnesses or individual frontends are funded with Hive Proposals, there is no direct mechanism to support API Servers.
I've been thinking about this and could imagine a similar system to Witness voting for API Servers, for example. API Servers are entered into a list and voted on, and then get paid out a daily reward based on votes, funded via a Hive Proposal.
Instead of voting, we could also record actual usage and pay servers based on their usage, but that would be a bit harder to implement in a tamper-proof way.
What do you guys think about this idea?

I heard potions will be used in the opening of rewards chest. Is there a way to turn that off? I still have some packs to open and stacking up some more potions first seems like a better choice for me.

yes, you can turn the potions off for reward cards on the splinterlands settings page. By default they are on.
Schön dich kennen gelernt zu haben
yeah, hoffe bis bald :)
Bis zum nächsten Mal

Very interesting idea, but as you said how to make it work is the hard part. It's really a good idea though!

Soul bounds make it a long term commitment! Married to Splinterlands!
The soulbound cards is a bad idea for me , if people and whales have 1+year to acumulate cards, then why will then want to buy these cards?

It's really amazing to see you people are having Meetups, It's gives you pleasure when you meet some of your online friends and talk to them in real.
Hat wieder riesig Spass gemacht! War auch richtig viel los!
great idea, see what happens
It doesn't seem like a bad idea to encourage API servers, but I don't think we're at that point. The volume of users is still small and I don't think there is a scalability issue right now.
