Delicious sandwich with slowly cooked pulled pork

A while ago I was browsing the internet and came across a great recipe for how to cook meat in a jar, which I think is the equivalent of the Sous Vide cooking technique. The recipe is very simple, you have to season the meat, cook it in a jar and then you can keep it up to 1 month in the fridge. One evening, when I came home late from work, I saw my cooked pulled pork in a fridge, and that's how the continuation of this recipe came up. I assure you that the taste of the meat is excellent and that you will love this recipe. Certainly, it isn’t a quick recipe, but it's worth your time!

You will need:

  • 500 g meat (I used pork neck)
  • salt (20 g per 1 kg of meat)
  • origan
  • thyme
  • mustard seeds
  • black cumin
  • dried garlic
  • bay leaf
  • black peppercorns
  • sprig of rosemary

You can make your own selection of spices (not necessary the ones I’ve used). Use the ones you love the most, in short, to your taste, but don't overdo it!

Make a mixture of spices (origan, thyme, mustard seeds, black cumin, dried garlic, and salt). Roll the meat in the mixture. Wrap the meat in cling film and leave to rest overnight in the fridge.

The next day, take the meat out of the foil and put it into a jar. Add a bay leaf, peppercorns and a sprig of rosemary.

Close the jar with the lid and seal tightly. Place a kitchen cloth on the bottom of the pot, place the jar with the meat on it and fill the pot to the top with water.

When the water comes to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer on a low temperature for 3 hours. Turn off the heat and leave to cool slightly. Cover with a towel to cool down and when is cool, place it in the fridge.

Now the meat is ready for further preparation or plating. I took the meat out of the jar. It was so soft and juicy that it just fell apart under my fingers. I put it on the cutting board and proceeded to prepare the sandwiches with pulled pork.
This time I took two slices of white bread and spread mustard on the first slice and fresh cheese spread on the second one. I added thin slices of fresh red peppers and thin slices of pickles to the sandwich. And of course, plenty of pulled pork.

I served the sandwich with pickled sweet hot jalapeno chilli accompanied by a glass of good red wine.

i have never heard or seen meat cooked in a jar, and even for three hours! I was very surprised to read that haha. it looks really delicious!

I was also surprised when I saw the recipe for the first time. But I was even more curious and I had to try it,.....believe me, it's worth it πŸ˜€ You can cook several jars in the pot at once,....the meat lasts in the fridge.
