Traditional Caramelized Coconut Balls

Today I finally got the chance to try out @sovebrito Caramelized coconut candy recipe. I've been wanting to give this recipe a try for a very long time, but whenever I have coconut at home, I always forget. In her post, she said this was her favorite treat while growing up, and making it always brought back good old memories for her.
Thanks for sharing this amazing and sweet recipe, now I know why you loved this while growing up because it's just divine.
Mine had a different color from the ones you made, I couldn't figure out what I did wrong, and I'd love to hear your feedback.
Overall, I hope I did well with your recipe hehe

This is a very simple treat to make, although the only part that eats up your time is grating the coconut, apart from that, there's not much work to do.

These are very simple ingredients you can find in your home, as you don't need to spend too much.
As for me, I didn't buy anything except the vanilla flavor and that was because I exhausted the one I had in the house.
We have coconut trees in my compound, so I just plucked from the tree hehe.
Trust me when I say you can make this treat with less than a dollar

First I removed my coconut from the shell and peeled off the skin from the coconut leaving just the white part just like the one in the image.
After that, I washed and grated the coconut, this was the only part that took most of my time.

Step 1

Pour your coconut, sugar, and water into your pan and cook on medium heat for at least 15 minutes, I stirred it, to avoid getting it burnt. I Removed my pan from the fire and allowed it to cool for 5 minutes before I started molding.

After molding, refrigerate for at least 20min.
I didn't refrigerate mine, because there was no light. What I did was pour cold water into a stainless bowl, put the balls on a stainless flat plate, and place it in the bowl. I left it there for just a few minutes, although it wasn't up to 20 minutes because the coconut was a little bit firmer than the way it was when I first molded it. Now it's ready to be glazed
.

Step 2

To make the caramelized sugar glaze, I added my sugar, a little bit of water, and vanilla flavor, which is optional, and then I stirred it for some time until it was fully melted, I removed it from the fire and poured it on my coconut balls. Yummy!!!

And voila your caramelized coconut candy is ready. It's so easy, right?
Yum Yum Yummy!!!!
