Hello to my Foodies Bee Hive Friends!
I hope you're all having a great weekend! ❤️
Here I am again, sharing with you another delicious recipe that I truly love. ❤️
As I mentioned in my last recipe post, I really enjoy spicy flavors 🤤 and today, I’m sharing another spicy dish with you. But this time, it’s a fish recipe, unlike the meat recipe I shared before. 😁
This dish is newly part of our regular weekly meal plan. I actually just discovered it through a video on social media. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to try it and I’m so glad I did! I instantly liked it as well as my husband so I decided to add it to our weekly meal list.

Ingredients:

Milkfish (5 cuts; you may use more, just adjust the rest of the ingredients accordingly)
3 cloves garlic
1 whole onion
1 whole tomato
l tablespoons oyster sauce
1/4 teaspoon tomato paste
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon shrimp paste
1 teaspoon chili garlic oil (Optional: Add red chili if you want it spicier)
1/4 cup water

Procedure:

  1. Clean the milkfish thoroughly by removing the intestines and fins. Cut it into 5 pieces. Then, slice the garlic, onion, and tomato into medium-sized pieces.

  1. Massage 1/4 teaspoon of salt into the 5 cuts milkfish. Make sure to rub it evenly so the salt flavors the entire fish.

  2. Heat oil in a pan, then fry the milkfish until it turns golden brown. Once cooked, remove it from the pan and set it aside on a plate. Leave the used oil in the pan cause we're going to use it for the next procedure.

  1. Sauté the garlic and onion in the same pan until fragrant and slightly browned. Add the tomato, shrimp paste, oyster sauce, and tomato paste. Mix well and let it cook for 5 minutes on medium heat.

  1. Add the ground pepper, sugar, water, and butter. Stir and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.

  1. Finally, add the fried milkfish back into the pan along with the chili garlic oil, you can also add a small portion of red spicy chili if you want it spicier, I added a red spicy chili in here as I like it spicier,I forgot to take a picture of it. Now gently mix everything to avoid breaking the fish pieces.

Serve and enjoy! ❤️

This has become one of my favorite recipes because I love the mix of salty, sweet, and spicy flavors. The shrimp paste and chili garlic oil make it an excellent appetizer, especially when paired with hot rice or even siomai! ❤️

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do! ❤️
