If I am a millionaire: Would I still work?

Ask anyone the reason why they work, and they'd tell you it is to become financially independent. Being financially independent means ; able to afford whatever we want without depending on another, and being a millionaire literally means one is doing well financially to afford more than human basic needs. But the striking part is, millionaires still work 10 times harder than people who are averagely doing fine. So it comes down to the question; do people work to afford their bills or something more than that?.

At first we seek for the basic means but once it's achieved, we climb the ladder seeking a greater need just as mentioned by Abraham maslow principle of hierarchy. Only a few get to the top most part of the hierarchy and when they do, they seek work as a purpose rather than meeting basic needs while the other on the hierarchy still work, not because they want the basic needs but out of fear to drop below their current state of hierarchy and this is why most millionaires work harder- to avoid the rat race of returning back to the level they first started.

If I am a millionaire, I'll still work, but not because I have to, but because one duty that was given to man on earth is to work, and there are benefits that comes with working past the chase for more money. Idleness is a spot for the devil's thought and not working and exercising one's body makes one vulnerable to illness. So working as a millionaire comes with physical, financial, spiritual, and mental benefits. Even while we desire rest, it's for a short time.

Everyone works for different reasons. I'll work to remain relevant health wise and financially. But I'm not a millionaire yet, who knows if I may become selfish for more gain when the opportunity presents itself. We may not be sure until we've had the privilege.

Intriguing question. Personally I had to take ill health retirement and at first I was lost without a job, but slowly over time I have created a new life without work. Now I would say I'm much happier being out of the rat race. It's true I live a quiet life but I have so much extra time to funnel towards artistic endeavours, as well as spend time with family and friends. Maybe some day I'll even get a grandchild...

It's nice to know you had worked hard during your youth and have attained a comfortable life for yourself. Rest is as important as work, but in the case of retirement, please enjoy the time.

And grandson will come soon

We may not really be sure until we are hit with a privilege.
