I have always had the idea of living more independently, where I can grow my own food and rely on nature to meet my needs. And so, my journey with homesteading began, a lifestyle that focuses on self-sufficiency through agriculture, animal husbandry, and home-made products.
When I decided to start farming, I chose peas, a relatively easy crop that does not require intensive care, and they grow quickly and provide a bountiful harvest. I started by planting the seeds in fertile soil, providing them with enough support to grow healthily.
The experience was not without challenges, as I faced problems such as pests that tried to destroy the seedlings, and weather fluctuations that affected the growth of the plants. But I learned how to deal with these challenges by using organic fertilizers, and providing natural protection for the plants by planting companion plants that help repel harmful insects.
After weeks of care and follow-up, green shoots began to appear, and soon they turned into full pods ready for harvest. The joy of picking my first peas was indescribable, as I felt that I was finally achieving my goal of home gardening and self-sufficiency, even if in a small way.
After successfully growing peas, I have the motivation to expand my small farm, and I am now thinking of trying growing leafy greens and tomatoes. I realized that homesteading is not just farming, but a lifestyle that teaches you patience, connection with nature, and the value of manual labor.
My journey is still in its early stages, but I am excited about what the future holds for me in this beautiful world of self-sufficiency and sustainability. 🌱💚
