The saying that humans are made in twos has been around for a long time, and over time we've had stories of how people tend to meet someone who looks exactly like someone they know, and I'm guessing this is probably one of the things that led scientists to the idea of creating human clones, which isn't actually widely accepted by people. While some think it's great, others think it's unethical and can be dangerous, and that's why in this article I'd be stating my opinion on these subjects matter, if I'd agree to having myself cloned, and different things that revolve around it.
So with keys, go into my response to each question one after the other, to start with paraventure. I've been approached by a group of scientists who said they've got everything in place to create a clone that does everything just like me, that not only looks like me but also talks, thinks, and acts the same way I do. Would I give them the go-ahead to do it? The truth is that it's a two-way thing, meaning my decisions may vary based on the scientist's response to a few of my questions. Take for instance if they told me that the clone can be monitored from their end without my permission, then I may not give them the go-ahead, but if not, I'd easily give them the go ahead.
The reason I said I won't give them the go-ahead if it'll be monitored from their end is because it's more like a breach of my privacy since basically everything I do is what the clone does too, and I don't like the idea of people poking into my affairs. But if such monitoring features won't be included, then these would be a great addition for me that I'd gladly accept, inasmuch as I'll be in charge of it and be the only one who can give the clone directive on what to do and what not to do.
Take for instance I used to complain about how time isn't on my side to do many of the things I want to do, so having a clone would greatly make doing all of those things possible without breaking a sweat. For example, since it'll be difficult to differentiate us, I can easily make the clone go to my workplace to do everything like it's me, While on the other hand, I delve into different things I've wanted to delve into for a long time; for example, acquiring some skills or learning some vital things that I believe I need to excel in this time and age. Or it can be vice versa, whereby I go to work while the clone does the learning on my behalf, and it can relay everything to me when I'm less busy.
Talking about the access I would give to this clone, it's worth noting that it'll be much and at the same time limited. It'll be limited when it comes to interactions with my family; I don't want a clone filling the void for me. I want to have great moments with my family and loved ones, and I want to make those memories with them, not have a clone acting on my behalf. What the clone can do for my family is maybe help with household chores and the like.
So all I'm saying is that while it'll be a great addition, I won't entirely trust it with my family, be it my children or my wife, and that's why its requirements around the house would be limited, if not zero. One of the major reasons I'm even agreeing to having a clone of myself is so I can learn some things time isn't giving me a chance to learn alongside all I've on my plate at the moment, and most importantly so that I can spend more time and make more memories with my family. Imagine going on a vacation with my family while my clone is at the office working, and yet no one knows I'm not the one at work.

Great reflections β very thought-provoking post! π
You explained the privacy and ethical sides really well. Would you personally allow your clone to be created? If yes, what limits would you consider necessary? And if not, in what situation could your decision possibly change?
Thanks for your kind words, it's always good to set boundaries and limit for such creations for ones interest and the likes, just like I said I'd allow it but on my term.
Not entrusting it with one's family is a great decision. Memories created with families and loved ones should be original and feelings we meant and hold dear to us.
That workplace idea is a perfect one π They might not even see the real you in months
I'm telling you, I'd just be somewhere else chilling, hustling or spending time with family and they'll think I'm the one working.
In truth, it's noble to create memories with our family.
E go sweet pass anything π
Hmmm NOBLE
If I'm the one I will say yes that means if I'm the one who will be monitoring my clone. Honestly there are lot of skills I really want to learn but because there's no time I couldn't do it, but me having a clone that do things exactly like me, the way I talk, walk, eat, etc, will be an huge advantages for me. Nice write-up.
That's just it and having a clone will gives one opportunity to delve into those skills.
Huhmm
So you only want your cloned self to be in charge of all those stressful works and all, while you are in for the enjoyment and memories and probably learning partπ. It's not bad since you would be in full control.
Thanks for sharing.

Not necessarily enjoyment alone, but also using those moments to great more skills and growth.
Huhm...
Sounds good.
Making your clone go to your work place while you be the one to spend time with your family is deceptive anyways. Except of course you come out clean that you have a clone.
The whole idea seems really nice. Having someone filing in for you while you do other things but how do you think people will see you when they find out that the person they have known all along was just your clone? And what if your clone ends up being the original you?

@hopestylist here!
I love and agree with your idea of cloning especially on control, If I can't have total control, it's biased already.. It'd be the same as building a clone of me without my consent, coz what's the need of a clone I can't control? Terms and conditions must apply...
That's just it, we need to have sole control over it, for such to be acceptable.
Entrusting a clone with your family is not a good idea, but then I utilizing it at your work place would really make work faster and easier.
