MARRIAGE CULTURE

(edited)

One of the beautiful aspects of culture is it shared value , culture is shared and practiced by numerous people , culture is what describes and separate a group of people from others , what separates and distinguishes them from other people.
The general definition we were given about culture as yougsters was " culture is the people way of life".
This explains that culture is the way at which a group of community or village live their lives.
It's their common/shared behavior, tradition, dress, ceremony , lifestyle, means of communication, and many more values.
Culture moves from one generation to another generation, that's one of the beautiful features of culture, culture cannot be modified, it's respected from generations to another.
Culture also includes food, each tribe or community has a meal that's unique to them and that meal is a cultural heritage, that has existed for so long .
Culture is beautiful and unique.

Nigeria is a country that respects culture to the core, we have beautiful cultural heritage, the northern, western, Southern and Eastern part of Nigeria all have a unique cultural heritage that is highly respected and practiced often.
You find cultural display in our occasions, dresses and our meals.
Our meals are the the best part of our cultural heritage for me .
In the west you find meals like Amala, the eastern part you find meals like Ofe Egusi, Ofe Nsala, Banga soup and and many more.
I'm from the eastern part of Nigeria and we have so much cultural heritage and I'm still thinking of a particular one to share in this prompt, but then I will write about our marriage culture and rite, because that is my most witnessed.

The eastern culture our attire especially during wedding tell alot about the richness and beauty of our culture.
I will like to tell about our rich marital culture, because that's a part of the culture I have witnessed and it's indeed beautiful.
Our dress during traditional weddings are well detailed from beading pattern, to our wrappers , attires and hair style.

Also there's usually a part of the tradition where the bride, searches for her husband in the crowd to give him a cup of palm wine, that's a compulsory rite in our wedding . And then we have other rites like gifting, dancing, performances and eating.

One of the interesting and emotional part is when the bride is being handed to her husband by her father.
He blesses them , say some prayers in our local dialect and at this point she's traditional taken.

In our occasions, Abacha (African salad) is always the first meal given to our guests, they are usually welcome with African salad, then the other meals follows after it's served, meals like Ofe Oha, Nsala, Egusi, Rice , Pepper soup and many more.

ABACHA (AFRICAN SALAD)

This is my own marital culture and rite in the east, if there's any other cultures I will like to participate in is the masquerade festival in the southern part of Nigeria, like Rivers State .
I have heard and watched alot about their culture, the way they beautify and displays wrapper for design, I would like to partake in this tradition some day.

In this week prompt we are asked to define waste of time in our ideology and I would define waste of time as doing something unproductive, for the wrong reason and at the the expense of your time.
Time is irreversible and when you find yourself doing something unproductive, at a very wrong and inappropriate time, that could be used to achieve something better, then you are wasting your time.

Thanks for reading.

The Igbos marriage culture is always so good. I think I like the part where the wife enters the crowd to look for her husband and give him palm wine.

It's usually one of the best part of traditional weddings, most times the groom makes it quite different for the bride πŸ˜…, by hiding in unexpected places and the crowd assist in giving her directions. Most grooms just sit and stare at her approaching with the wine .
It's fun and interesting to watch
