This first time I tasted a salty guava fruit, I was more shocked that I tasted salt than the existence of a fruit that tasted that salty. Even though I've had some "too salty" meals moments, I don't like salt when it's too much in my meals. Just the right amount of salt in a meal for me.
I don't underestimate the power salt has in a meal, it enhances the taste of every ingredient and without it, the meal is tasteless and if there's anything I don't like more than too much salt or peppery meals, it's a tasteless one. Of course, I can bear to eat it but that's after adding raw salt.
I don't have a complicated taste buds but there is definitely something wrong with some flavours having too much of whatever it is that was used, starting from too much salt to too much spices. My dad loves his meal having more salt than I'd like but gradually he had to adjust with little salt.
For every meal I prepare or is prepared by someone else, the salt taste plays a big role in whether I'll eat more or little. Because of this, I can be very careful or calculative when I add salt to taste in my meals. One of the regular mistakes with learning to cook is adding too much salt lol.
There are meals without salt that still taste good, mostly snacks that doesn't need salt but sugar to taste nice. I think I'm more of a sugar lover than salt lover but there is no soup, sauce or stew I can have with no salt in it. It's the presence of salt that makes me appreciate my sugar taste.
I'm not sure how a lot of snacks are made but I know some needs salt to taste but without sugar in them, I can't have them too. My love for sugar has caused a lot of problems for me and it's why I try to limit too much of it I take now but it's going to take a while for me to create a balance.
Until then, I can only try to go a few weeks or days or at most one month without or very little amount sugar at a go but when I choose not to watch my intake, I could take a lot of it whenever I want to have a meal that needs sugar for a good taste. Sugar is my reason for craving snacks.
I don't get to eat much food except they are very delicious so I love having a moderate amount of salt and for meals that require sugar, a good amount of it. I remember one time I had a meal with a lot of pepper and spices, I realize just how much I'd love my meals with little of the both.
If I was to choose between too salty and too spicy, I'll go for too spicy. That's just how much I don't like salty meals but it's definitely a big No if I had options. I still get surprised when I see people actually love much salt in their meals and some people don't like sugar at all, so unique lol.
For me, my taste buds appreciates well salted flavours (not too much and not too little) and sugary foods but I try to moderate how much of them I take. I just realize that most of my favourite meals and snacks are ones that have good amount of salt or a lot of sugar hehe.

Omo, na gaduz be this? See enjoyment. Eating what you want whenever is what I always want. As for the pepper, i don't even want an atom of it in my food ( I don't even know how I'm gonna be eating suya nowadays). Salt kwa as a man mo good for me as a human being is not too safe so I manage the level of salt any food I eat comes with. For the case of sugar? Well I'm still thinking and making enquiries about it. They said excess is bad but how do you qauntify excess. My friend studying medicine when I asked said that sugar intake doesn't necessarily cause diabetes so🤷..... well, I hope you enjoyed yourself
Ahhh you don't eat pepper at all? That's new. I've never heard that fact about sugar intake and diabetes, I've always believed it's the major cause.
Do you mind sharing the sort of problem sugar has caused you lemme learn a few things and adjust
It's mainly stomach aches actually, if it doesn't cause that for you, you're good.
I love almost all the sweet food but I always maintain the intake as taking too much sweet things in everyday is not good.
In case of salt I think I am not so picky while eating food when the salt is perfect but if it's less I add to much salt while eating. So it's complicated for me when it comes to salt.
Haha it isn't as complicated as you think, a lot of us do same for our meals.
