A GIFT FROM SCHOOL

I have a best friend today who has been not just a great friend, but also like a brother to me. Come to think of it, we weren’t even very close in school. I remember when I just entered the hostel for the first time, he was one of the many guys in the room with me, and he was also one of the coolest. But for some reasons we never got along, we never really spoke much, we just knew each other from afar. Everything was going well until life happened.

I had to drop out from school and never knew he also had to drop out. When it was time for me to go back I needed a place to stay and was not really having money for accommodation and I knew if I needed to survive a place to stay was of utmost priority. So I called a coursemate of mine who was already done with school, he agreed for me to stay with him but only temporarily. Knowing that was only a temporary place, I had to start looking for accommodation elsewhere.

With no money, I met this guy who I only used to know back in school. He had come back two years before me and was already in his finals. When I told him I was looking for a place to stay, he never really wanted a roommate because his house was small, but he accepted to take me anyways. This became the beginning of a bond that still exists to date. Sometimes I wonder how I managed to get such a great person in my life, but I am eternally grateful for the friend school gave me. I do not know how I would have survived if he had turned me down also. We have been through a lot together and still doing a lot together of which I am grateful for because his kind are very rare.
