From time past, rebellion has become the driving force that brings about change, revolution, and a new way of doing things differently from contemporary ways. Rebellion is a perfect definition of the human desire for justice and freedom, and it's helped improve lives in our society over the years. Although it's also deemed by some as a bad act, today I'd love to share my rebellion story with you.

Before I dive into my personal story, it's worthy of note that regardless of what the authority or ruling class might see a rebellious act as, it is a game changer that continuously brings about change, progress, and equality in our community at large. Without rebellion, the human race wouldn't be any different from robots, who do exactly as they're programmed to do. The uniqueness of humans is in their will to revolt, ask questions, and hold others accountable for their actions, regardless of their status in society.
That being said, let's dive into my experience as a rebellious person, what led to me indulging in such behavior, and the end result. Several years ago, before I gained admission into the university, I told my dad I'd love to equip myself with computer literacy since we weren't rich enough to own a computer that I would have learned on at home. Given the fact that I also wanted to study computer science in school, my dad agreed and took me to a computer center where the knowledge would impact me.
Although at the time of my registration the man requested I pay 15 thousand naira as a registration fee, my dad only had 12 thousand naira on him, and he begged the man to please teach me with the promise that I'll surely pay the remaining balance before I graduate and get certified. The man agreed and said I should begin training immediately.
I was excited to begin my training and had already planned to give it my best so I could be vast enough in computer science to make what I'd be taught at the university much easier. Unfortunately, the man had other things in mind. Rather than telling my dad he wouldn't be teaching me until we made a complete payment, he kept quiet and only put me in front of Mavis Beacon for two months.
Yes, I know Mavis Beacon is cool and a great way to learn about computers, but with my desire to learn, I mastered it and became very perfect with it, yet my tutor refused to promote me to testing my knowledge with other computer packages. I lost my cool when new students came in, and within a few weeks of learning, they got promoted to the next phrase, even though they weren't as good as I was. I walked up to him and asked why he kept me in one spot, and all he said was that I wasn't good enough.

That response was ridiculous. I mean, you do refer me to teach these new students how to go about Mavis Beacon, and all of a sudden I, who taught those students, isn't good enough, and yet they are. I kept quiet and told my dad about it. Dad had no money with him at that time, so all he could do was go there to plead with him to teach me that he'd definitely pay the remaining 3 thousand, which he obliged the second time again, but where were any changes?
Yes, there were changes, but not on the positive side. What he did after that was move me from Mavis Beacon to attending to any customer that wanted to print, do photocopies of their documents, or laminate a document. That was good knowledge, but not for a continuous purpose. I wanted to learn about desktop publishing, word processing, and base programming, and you are using me for your mania job. I was so angry, but I kept my cool because that also lasted about a month.
There came a day when he came back from an outing and started ranting about how someone had stolen his money from where he kept it. Although he was speaking to everyone of us, the students, in most cases he directed questions towards me as though he was certain I stole his money. I lost my cool and poured out my mind to him, letting him know how stupid and immature he is for agreeing to teach someone and not doing as he promised.
I told him all sorts of things, and by the time I was done, he sent me out of his store. I told him I'd go only if he refunded the money my dad paid or if he taught me the worth of what we paid for. We've obviously paid over 80 percent of his requirements, and he can't say all that only covers Mavis beacon alone. My rant was getting too much, and that attracted neighbors and passersby who listened to my story of spending 3 months to learn the same thing when the agreement covers 4 other aspects of computers.
In the end, he was told to refund my money since I refused to leave or let him have any business dealings in the store without doing what he promised to teach me. He gave me 10 thousand naira, and that's how I went home. Getting home, I told my dad what happened, and though he insisted I return to his place, I refused.
Not long after that, I was told by my other learners, who suffered the same fate in his hands, that he has changed and that he's now teaching them everything he refuses to teach them because they've not made full payment. I was excited that I was able to initiate a change with my rebellious act, although I guess he was also afraid of the others following my path and also demanding their money, so he immediately started doing the right thing.
What he was doing then was just annoying; come to think of it, it's his business, and he has a right to decline or accept any deal. When someone can't make a complete payment and you know you can't agree to such, all he would have done was decline their plea, but instead he'll agree and then refuse to do anything meaningful related to why he was paid.
Although I regretted some of my choices of words then, I didn't have one single remorse about what I did. On the contrary, I am happy knowing that my revote brought about a change that helped others, and I'm sure he himself would have learned from that experience.
Thanks so much for your time. Have a wonderful day ahead.
